Anyway... girl's perspective again: Meshuggah is not my cuppa tea.

Dang, I've been listening to Steeleye Span all day, this just doesn't work for me AT ALL...

Well, I am 17, so how am I supposed to contribute to that? ConfusedLOL

Meshuggah is a VERY acquired taste, yes. If I ever want to scare away girls and most sane human beings, then I know what to do. Tongue

C'mon Alex, you know that you're not allowed to track that stuff into the Shred Room.

I have their second album, but I don't bring it out as often as I should. It's good, just I usually prefer TFK if I'm in that mood.

Hmm...I've only got one TFK album. Kind of cold, but classy.

Alex, Check this band out.  They are called Mellotron and they are from Michigan.  They opened for King's X last week when I saw them.  The Meshuggah side of your brain might like them.

Which album do you own?

Space Revolver and Paradox Hotel are my personal favorites.

I'm gonna go for whisky tomorrow. Just a relaxing dose. Saturday might get rough though. Sauna, beer, friends, possibly pub/club.

I find that most proggers tend to like TFK's Unfold the Future the most.  It is said to be their most experimental.

Every last song on that album prattles on for about three minutes longer than it should.

That said, "One More Time" is one of my favorites of theirs.

Listening now. Sounds great. Thumbs Up

It sounds more like traditional prog/prog metal than Meshuggah does, definitely.

That's a good one, but it's REALLY impenetrable, especially as a starting album.

Try either of the ones I mentioned, I'd say, if you want to hear more. Scott is right that most proggers tend to prefer Unfold the Future, and it is good, but I don't think it's a good starting album and it's really an odd piece in their discography in several aspects.

I really like Unfold the Future, but I never understood that.

Give me Stardust We Are, Space Revolver, Sum of No Evil, Paradox Hotel, Retropolis, and Back in the World of Adventures first.

That's pretty much the only actual album from Rush that I don't own.

I should change that, but I never put it too high on my priority list because I saw them live on that tour both years.

But the epic on the album?

"Cosmic Christmas Tree?"  What were they thinking?

Dead
