Even Bass Communion v Muslimgauze?

I've not got that yet but I intend to. I do however own stuff like the Bass Communion/Fear Falls Burning 7" split that was released recently and the Bass Communion/Freiband mini CD that was released as a companion piece to Molotov and Haze.

Oh one final thing I mentioned in my previous post that the book/cover of my vinyl version of Insurgentes was damaged, I received a replacement book/cover today from Burning Shed. Big smile

It's actually quite a bit different than the rest of the Bass Communion I've heard.  Hard to get a hold of though.  I found part available used and part available as an I-tune download.  Don't know if it's still available there.

By the way, I see Wilson and Insurgentes has been officially added to PA. Clap
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Well, it has and it hasn't! Smile

The album was first made available through a dedicated website (insurgentes.org) in a special expanded edition on November and now BurningShed.com has started taking preorders for the regular retail release. And along the preorder you can download the full album on MP3 right ahead.

So, technically, "Insurgentes" has already been (kinda) released, albeit on a limited basis, with full non-limited retail version coming in late February (or early March?).

Hope that clears it...

It's all a carefully though plan to make Insurgentes PA Album of the Year... twice. A new record for Mr. Wilson. LOL

If Porcupine Tree come up with something new, everything else will be in the dust. Not even Wilson can, single-handedly, do something about that. Wink

It does, thanks. There was me thinking everyone was reviewing advance leaked versions.

Yeah there was an album and then and EP those releases are rare, however there is also a compilation of the two similar to the IEM 1996-1999 collection that's still readily available that's the version I intend to get.

Porcupine Tree will have a new album out towards the end of the year. It is the greatest album ever.

Yeah - it is sure to be Wink

Seriously though - because of the eclectic nature, musically, of Insurgentes, I would like to see a more specific direction taken by SW eg: more experimental. I suppose Insurgentes is "experimental" but there are touches of so many other genres contained on each track, it is hard to see where SW is going with his music. I think perhaps he should steer away from the dark and brooding nature that seems to have pervaded his work over recent years and lighten things up. Just a suggestion mind you Smile.
All in all a stand-out talent.Star

My first impression is what I expected it to be: solid, diverse music, but nothing as singular and impactful as a Porcupine Tree album. The stand-out for me is "No Twilight" and the correspinding "Twilight Coda." That soft instrumental section is just amazing.

I think it´s a good debut album. I do think there is way too much noise, but that isn´t necesarly a bad thing... I just need to listen to it a bit more. Great line up!!! Harrison, Levin, Rudess and Travis... WOW!!!

Ok, I got this album on Tuesday and it's been on repeat basically ever since. When I was initially listening to it, for the first half of the album I was pretty disappointed, but about half through for me it started getting better, and by the end something about the title track made me suddenly relize "Wow, this is the greatest thing I've ever heard!" (But that was in the moment, it's not the Best thing ever, but it's damn good!) I really think Wilson has grown to a new level as an artist, matured a bit. I'm anxious to see where he's off too next.

It's grown on me since. Though, I still think the second half is the stronger half, but thats just me. Overall highlights: Harmony Korine, No Twilight, and Insurgentes.

I've listened to it just the once so far. It's impressive, but I do get the feeling that I'll have to listen to it several times to get the full impact - which is no bad thing as far as I'm concerned. Didn't have as big an initial effect as the PT albums though.

Cheers

Jim

It hasn't left my CD player since it arrived at my place.

It's the culmination of everything he's done before, and I think it's a fantastic album, certainly among his best work. It does take some time to get into, so those who claim to be disappointed - it needs more time... and at a certain point you'll discover Insurgentes has become glued in your computer's CD player...

But well I'm a fangirl. Embarrassed

Jesus never managed to figure out the theremin either
