Cowboys from Hell!

hell yeah, also a lot of  stuff from Vulgar Display of Power.  My buddies and I played that album incessantly back in the day.  What a f**king killer record that was!

Hell no. Never. If even for SFAM and 6 Degrees alone.

Am I the only person that doesn't like 6 Degrees enough to give it 5 stars?Confused

I was playing that album non-stop about three years ago (when I first discovered this site), but haven't played it in a long time.  I'm not sure how I would feel about it now.  I remember loving disc 1 except for "Disappear", and disc 2 was good but I didn't like it as much.

I don't think I would award it 5 stars now, but I would have back then.

Just like I do with SFAM, I love every song on there to death. Not in quite the same way as SFAM, but I'd award them both 5 stars. Any other DT album wouldn't get 5 stars because they don't match the sheer genius of those two. Images and Words is 3rd with 4 stars.

And also, something about SFAM is slightly lacking compared to I&W.
I always feel more inspired listening to I&W than I do SFAM.
It's like I can almost feel how the band was so youthful and inspired for I&W, can't think of any other way to describe it.

You aren't. I'd give it 4 probably.Embarrassed I have to be in the mood for it.

There's something wrong with that if you have DT in your top 5 bands. Ouch

Pantera just destroyed faces with CFH and Vulgar Display, pure and simple. I always end mucking around with groove metal riffs on the guitar from the Pantera influence.

I feel the opposite; I am so much more inspired listening to SFAM than I am I&W. Images and Words is just a solid album to me, nothing more.

SFAM is packed full of an amazing concept, emotions, and much more mature playing.

I guess metal isn't really my thing, other than some exceptions.

You're totally right about this.

I was just so stunned with I&W when it came out.  People sort of take that type of prog metal sound a little bit for granted now, but there was really nothing like that at the time.

That's understandable.

I suppose I'm in the minority here though. I'm used to it. Wink

Oh don't get me wrong, I was as blown away by SFAM as I was I&W.  They peaked with that one IMO.

I&W is very good, it just didn't quite blow me away on the same level. It's really a shame that their last 3 albums haven't been that good.

That is probably true. I do know quite a bit about metal, but that's not my specialty. You know more than I do.

I'm definitely going to try. Big smile

You think I'll still have no trouble getting the boxset late December/early January?

I see what you mean dude and can understand why you might like it more than I do.
I used to like SFAM more back in 2006.
But after a while, I realized just because it was a concept album, I couldn't keep telling myself I enjoyed it more than I&W, because I came to realize in the end I&W was the more emotional, inspiring experience for me.
