Arriving Somewhere is sublime, Trains is merely "very, very good".

I agree with you Tony. Another song i really like from early in their career is "Rainy Taxi" becuase it does have a krautrock flavour to it. Steven said he was listerning to a lot of krautrock when he came up with that song not surprisingly.

"Arriving" for the poll. As for an absolute favourite too hard to choose!
A song I saw them perform live this year that was outstanding was "Dark matter" from Signify.I really hope they include that on the new DVD when its released. A very unexpected but brilliant inclusion to the live set. Several people standing near me who didn't know Signify were asking what song is that and what album.

I love the Staircase Infinities disc, Cloud Zero is excellent .
Tony R is very accurate in his description, though

I love that disc too. Yellow Hedgerow Dreamscape is my all-time fave PT track. The guitar solo is mindbending. I'm also mad for Always Never, off the main album. Those 2 tracks sum up what I love about early PT.
As for the poll, I'll go for Trains, a favourite mode of transport

Trains is a nice song, but Arriving is the best Porcupine Tree and one of the best songs in prog. Period.

Really love both the songs, but I can still remember I saw PT live for the first time on the Deadwing tour in the 013 (concerthall in Tilburg, The Netherlands) without knowing what the band was about before that... Arriving moved me to tears, it was so amazingly powerful! (Though I still think it sucks that you did not put Radioactive Toy on that list )
