I started a short-story once... I was flying through it and then I came to a gigantic halt.
I've never gotten back into it either.
The one short-story I am kind of happy with and that I did complete, was written on the spur of the moment, without planning or anything.

The adjective 'Jamesian' has I believe been taken already (Henry James). 'Geckoid' perchance...? My story will be what it decides to be - I never plan and am flying, in the grand tradition of trouser-wearers, by the seat of my pants. I think it is being somewhat influenced by Mervyn Peake at the moment, but hopefully originality shall prevail once I get into my stride...

I one day shall write a novel... it could take a while though as I am a weird person who wants to try and be as original as possible when most forms of originality in the writing world has been done.

You could write your novel in a made-up language called Jamesian (like Kobaian). That would be at least more original than most other alternatives.

Hey hey. I've been away for a while but I Have Returned! Although... I may not be very conversational here, because I'm doing NaNoWriMo! Er, which is probably what I should be doing now, rather than befouling your screens with prattle in here...

Honestly part of what really makes me kinda pissed off about Systematic Chaos, I just think the band wasn't even close to their full potential on that record. Does anyone even realized how incredibly well developed Jordan Rudess's orchestration abilities are? The guy could do something really amazing, but instead, its another "widdly widdly dooooo" keyboard solo. Enough already. He has so much more talent than that, and it never gets utilized The band could have progressed much further given how talented Petrucci and Rudess really are, but it doesn't show in SC.

I have to rebuttal against you here Harry - and it's just a matter of opinion.
I love 6 Degrees thanks to it's adventurous first disc which includes
one of my all-time favorite tracks, Blind Faith, and the amazing second
disc which shows them dare to be symphonic. Granted, I was let down by
both Train of Thought and Octavarium, but I think that Systematic Chaos
is exactly where they should be right now. Bringing in the heaviest
elements that they've ever used along with the symphonic feeling of
some of their more recent works. Granted, the lyrics often come off as
cheese and I think that Forsaken was a step in the wrong direction, but
the rest really seems to click with me. Ministry Of Lost Souls, in my
opinion, is the best thing they've done since their Awake days.
I don't expect a counter arguement, that's just my opinion
