This was done last year in this closed thread, but I have decided to revive this question for this year's upcoming holiday.  Here is a link to last year's now locked thread.  http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=43128&KW=halloween&PID=2678743#2678743

I'll start this year's thread by saying that although she won't be here in the US for Halloween, Raff should dress as the Statue of Liberty or Betsy Ross or some other symbolic US personage.

I'll make an exception and quote myself from that thread:

Actually, I think I'll just wear clothes like normal people.

I might suggest going as this. No one will believe it till it actually comes out in stores.

Well, on Friday night I might try to go out in the streets of my neighbourhood dressed as the Statue of Liberty, and see if someone calls an ambulance to take me to the nearest madhouseLOL... Kids and younger people have started celebrating Halloween since some years ago, but people my age usually don't. I used to dress up for Carnival when I was much younger, but I haven't done so in decades, I'm afraid.

Anyway, excuse me for my ignorance, but I have no clue as to who Betsy Ross might be.. Luckily I'm still a few years away from my citizenship testWinkLOL!

Legend has it that Betsy Ross sewed the first flag of the United States.

I see... Well, I can embroider, but I can't sew to save my life, and I'm not too much of a flag person anyway. I think that, when the day will come for me to take my oath as a US citizen, I'll have to make a special effort not to laughWink.

While I myself am going as a speedbump, I think Scott should go as a Toronto Blue Jay.

Oy!!  Well at least it is better than going as a New York Yankee.  My nephew is going as Magglio Ordonez, who is the Tigers' Righfielder.  There is a tilde over the "n" but I don't know how to make the keyboard do that.

I'm sure your neighborhood enjoys playing "guess what my costume is" and the best candy goes to the person who stumped them all.

We're Americans.  We don't take any notice of the damn thing anyway.

the only place where the tilde is really important is when you are trying to distinguish the word "ano".  If my rusty Spanish serves me right with the tilde it means year, without it means a****le.
