Great band, love that demo! Highly anticipating their upcoming album A friend over at Progressive Ears has posted a link to this brilliant Japanese band called MUTYUMU that has all sorts of styles mixed in their music including classical, metal and avant. Some of you might dig this: http://www.myspace.com/mutyumu http://sound.jp/mutyumu/ |

You have to send them an email. They recorded it not thinking that they'd ever sell it so it's widely available on the web too. If you DO want to support the band then send them an email with your order info to: [email protected] Xanoyr will take good care of you and your order!

Checked their myspace, liked what I heard. Said Aurora Veil was available with paypal, but didn't see where.

Fail. Meshuggah is insanely hard stuff dude. The "weird rhythms" in itself is what makes half the difficulty. Being able to execute a gallop triplet/sixteenth note triplet and crazy fast 16th notes in one riff, absolutely makes your picking hand fall off very quickly. That sh*t needs serious practice and has to be constantly practiced to be able to maintain it and you have to be in completely top form to be able to play it without tensing up at some point and destroying your arm with lactic acid. It's like saying what an athlete does is easy because "it's just running fast". Clearly, they have to constantly put in the hours, be in absolute top form to perform what they do. Some with playing technical stuff on a musical instrument... it's not stuff you can just bum around on every weekend or so, you gotta be at it regularly or you lose it. You gotta train for it. If that's not technical.. than I don't know what is... Post some videos up of you playing Meshuggah songs some time will ya |

They do lack stage presence. Maybe they've gotten better but they did when I saw them with Opeth.
BTW...
This band is absolutely amazing! They only have one demo out called The
Aurora Veil. I wrote their bio for their PA listing. Check em out!
http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=4002 Their demo will be re-released soon. but you can probably find it somewhere to download They're really great, I'm telling you. If you like Opeth or other Tech/Extreme prog metal then you'll like them. http://www.myspace.com/neobliviscaris Jake |

Thanks and yes they are a good band. Its so surprising how they decided to suddenly come back to record a new album. I didn't expect anything else to happen to Cynic. This new album caught me completely off guard. |

Yeah, judging by the rave of reviews this album is receiving seems to be worth getting it. I'm quite impressed. Good band. Edited by burritounit - October 01 2008 at 00:08 |

After many listens of Cynic's Traced in Air, I actually wrote my first review on the said album.
I am very pleased with it... When the album is officially released, I am definitely getting myself a copy of it. :{D |

What? You can't read my mind?
Heh...that would be a vital detail, wouldn't it? Arsis would be the bands name. Apparently tolerance for death metal vocals is not the only thing I'm losing with age. |

I downloaded the free Nuclear Blast comp from Amazon recently and found one of the bands was unknown to me and quite appropriate for the Tech/Extreme section. brilliant guitar work. They are sadly of the growly type of vocals that I am losing tolerance of in my old age, but the songs were brilliant. Check em out.

I haven't heard Focus, but I did enjoyed the new one for sure. Vocals sound weird but I love them. In other matters...has anyone heard the new Human Abstract? Nocturne was amazing but this one SUCKS BIG TIME...worst 2008 album. It's a true disappointment. I really thought this band had great potential with NOCTURNE but I guess I was terribly wrong. |

Listening to it for the first time, seems a lot fluffier than focus, with a lot more clean vocals, and not as trippy. I need more listens.

The new Cynic is beyond amazing. I will most definitely buy it when it is officially released.
