Man, my friends were terribly dissapointed when I told them the news. I have to say that we all are saddened by the loss. What's surprising is the fact that not many people know about it.
My history teacher was the only person who was aware. Shame that people shouldn't hear about his death.

RIP Rick. You knew the power of a minimalist piano plink before any of them.
You will be missed. |

His melodic piano styles are some of the best in rock. I always loved richard wright's musicianship. Its sad that he had to go. To his family i wish the dearest regards.

I dunno, guys . . . Waters' silence in all of this is a little jarring to me. Is he really so proud that he can't just SAY some nice things about the man? As far as I'm concerned, putting a large picture of candles on your website isn't enough . . . . . . especially considering all the hell Roger put Rick through. Maybe I'm just being overly pessamistic. |

^ I dunno, taking down his entire web-site and putting up one picture spoke volumes I thought.

Please let's not even go there.......let's just allow people to be sad for Rick here in whatever form and not bring in controversy.
Respect and thanks...

It's well known that Rick was a lifelong smoker, although that may not have directly lead to his death, as it has been stated his illness was short.
I totally agree. |

Mmm, no, I think I'll keep stating my own opinion about it. I mean, I'm not disrespecting anyone with that statement, I'm just giving my own impressions about the whole thing regarding Waters' response. I deeply apologize if this has somehow offended you, though. Meant no offense. Truly.

Hmm, well, after reading the statement, I retract my initial feelings about the situation. He seems to be genuinely sincere when speaking about the Live 8 reunion helping to patch things up, and all. Guess the hugs and kisses at the end of it weren't just for fanfare, after all. :)
Thanks for that link, Chris. I actually respect Waters again, haha.
I wish these band members weren't dying so young these days; I would have loved to have seen the man in concert. Simplicity at its very, very best. Mr. Wright always knew how to write truly stirring pieces without going over-the-top. Edited by p0mt3 - September 19 2008 at 01:43 |

I'm not the greatest Pink Floyd fan, and the era to which Wright was so important to the band is not my favorite...still, I would be a fool to argue against the importance that that band in that era had on music, and the world in general. Wright's presence in the musical world will be sorely missed.
Rest in peace, Rick.

This might be of interest to some of you. The artist KiNo played Summer '68 last night as a tribute to Richard Wright as his weekly video transmission. Here is a link to the website/video in the event that you do find this of interest. |
