Greetinx , Nice people on Prog-Archives!!!

TinKicker has recorded 16 traks in classic rock opera manner. They take you
on a journey into the complex of problems of modern man. -!The Soliloquy Of
The Transparent Boy " is the brainchild of Herfort and Lindberg, and is the
duo's first self written, self recorded and self produced work. TinKicker
has labeled their sound "Pink Sabbath" as a "Tip of the Hat" to two of their
big sources of inspiration Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath. Prog with Riffs!
Melodic and metallic, mellow and mean, !!

At first listen, this doesn't sound too bad - with hints of the influences mentioned, but also reminding me of bands like The Mission (an 80's spin off of The Sisters of Mercy if you shouldn't know them). Nice - dark, but maybe not that prog? Worth a listen in either case.

They look like they're from the 80s as well - given the concert pictures on MySpace.... Big%20smile

@Uwe: they recorded 16 tracks, but there's no mention of a CD or downloadable album. Have you contacted them in response to their mail?

Their music is technically very good and you can hear they've gained experience a lot.
I know THE MISSION quite well - I don't think there are many similarities.

The first song has a very catchy melody - and then suddenly the brakes to metal elements - interesting.
Black Sabbath similiarities are evident - Pink Floyd? I don't know.
I would categorize it as Heavy Prog.

Yes, I answered the band and sent them the link to this thread - this is the reply

Thanx!

Yes! Tinkicker is unsigned under this monicker!! we have some other official releases under other names!!! and other styles. This is our first attempt in prog.
Again thank you for your help
Regards
TinKicker

BTW - Angelo - I made a mistake with the band name - sorry - it's Tinkicker Ouch

Thanks for the update, I forgot to edit my remark on the mission: it was mainly the vocals on the first track that reminded me of a (multi-vocal) The Mission track of which the title seems to keep slipping my mind. Anyway, an interesting find. Thumbs%20Up

I'll fix the thread title.

Tower Of Strength? Deliverance? ::shrug:: I kind of get what you mean - like Wayne Hussey sings Classic Rock

Anyway - Interesting, nice old-school sound, if a little light on the actual Prog content it's certainly Prog in spirit.

What?

Spot on Dean. Tower of Strength could be just the one. I'd check, if it wasn't so that I really don't feel like hearing those guys just now. Wink

Greetinx from Tinkicker,

Just for record !.. Mission and Sisters of Mercy ...We know by name..but not their music !!!..
but we have to check them out now..
Prog in spirit !!!! Great phrase!..may we borrow it !! it's spot on for us!!!..
The four trax we have on our Myspace , are samples of the different styles from the cd.
But as this is a Concept , where the moods follows the storyline., it is not
easy to pick the 'best ' songs , however later on we will add some other songs and a video.

Keep up the Prog'astic work
Stay True, Remain surreal...

Welcome guys! Don't worry too much about The Mission and Sisters of Mercy - there was a small resembles in one track, but you won't find much prog in their music.

I've got a promo CD from MALS records too, and found TINKICKER to be indeed a mixture of PINK FLOYD and BLACK SABBATH, as they claim on their MySpace page...but to my ears, it's both 80s FLOYD/SABBATH, not 70s ones . I mean, it's nice music, it may be a pleasure for any classic rock/art rock fan to listen from time to time, but it's mostly Prog-Related/Crossover Prog - IN MY BOOK, I insist That's why I wasn't sure to propose the band for inclusion, despite the fact that I've listened to this CD three or four months ago

But c'mon, some riffs were pretty stoney

^^ Hi PJ,

David, Whistler and I gave the album a thorough listen, and with the help of Uwe and Olav, came to the conclusion that they sat quite comfortably in the Heavy Prog camp.

We hope you are happy that they have been included in PA....Smile
Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson
