Most of the time I'm an anti-procrastinator; I get things done as soon as I can. With very little stupid things though, I might procrastinate. Wink

I have Ahvak already. Maybe if I listen to it more often my mom will stop bugging me about Israeli-pride.

Now I wonder if my mom will like Ahvak... I've been successful so far with Magma, SMM, and Henry Cow.

My parents rarely comment about my music even though they've heard quite a bit... probably isn't a good thing.

I'd like to think I'm pretty intelligent as well, but when it comes to most things I try not to get too lazy. Wink

I can be lazy, but I still get things done when I'm supposed to. I guess I'm pretty intelligent, but then again, most people consider themselves to be above average in intelligence.

I never saw it that way, that most people consider themselves above average in intelligence.
I've met a lot of people that just believe their average, and the people that truly are above average tend to know they have a heightened level compared to their "average" peers.

My dad was the one who introduced me to my love of music through Rush and then later through Genesis, Yes, Supertramp, Styx, Jethro Tull, etc. so he likes MOST of my taste. He doesn't get into Magma, ELP, etc. as much as I do, but he still doesn't mind it. The only things so far that he has hated have been "Facelift" by Soft Machine, Meshuggah, and Mr. Bungle. LOL

My mom, on the other hand, loves disco. LOLDead

I've always done what I needed to do but feel I could have achieved more if I had a better work ethic.  I guess I'm mainly thinking of college which for me was summer camp for 4 years (luckily the school/degree had sufficient brand value that my mediocre performance wasn't an issue).  Although in grad school when I was sufficiently motivated and interested, I was the top student in the program.  If I could just maintain that level of motivation....

Sounds like me completely.

When I was at College in my first year, I thoroughly enjoyed it and actually got the best result of everyone on the course. Big%20smile

The thing is, the course was piss easy. LOL

There were so many dumb overachiever girls in my grade who thought grades actually measured intellect.  I always got a kick out of that one.

Meshuggah is headache inducing so I see where he's coming from.  My dad used to be into relatively cool music, Yes, Pink Floyd, Talking Heads, Focus, etc. but now his tastes are pretty tyical "dadrock" Cry

Grades measure the sum of intellect and work ethic in the sense that a very high intellect (things come easy to you) and a mediocre/low work ethic can yield a good grade, and somewhat lesser intellect and strong work ethic can yield the same result.

Well the vocals are very operatic and after 1001 Degrees, they seem more influenced by classical than jazz or rock (yes, I know Vander cites John Coltrane as his biggest influence - I actually haven't heard anything by Coltrane after A Love Supreme, which is when he went avant-garde, maybe there is a bigger link than I think?).

I'm fully expecting my kids to associate prog with "old crap that Dad likes".  Confused

Most of my high school friends (guys anyway) are smart but total lazy underachievers.  I put in a fairly minimal effort and got mostly B's, some honors/AP courses along the way (got a bit of college credit already), but never anything ridiculous.  Actually, I often preferred the CP (average level) kids to the honors/AP crowd, but it depends.
