Grace Under Pressure. It got three stars, but I was thinking better than Moving Pictures (which I gave a three stars, just, rating, and plenty of flak) when I was reviewing it.

You sir have just lost your clappiesAngry Moving Pictures is easily a 6/7 star album (maybe even 8 out of 5) and GUP is 5 stars as well!

How people give Moving Pictures 4 stars eludes me. The lyrics are dubious, the guitar often sounds a bit sterile, almost every song has a noticeable flaw, The Camera Eye is long, has an annoying drum sound, and has no reason to exist. If it wasn't for the incredibly awesome Vital Signs, it wouldn't get the three from me.

GUP is a bit more consistent, though the middle's a bit frail in terms of the mix. Still, the 3 stars for that one is a solid rating.

Now, Caress of Steel, that is an awesome album. A Farewell To Kings is killer material, Permanent Waves ain't bad at all, except Entre Nous. 2112 mostly rocks. Even Snakes And Arrows is pretty good. Moving Pictures, well, I just don't get the appeal for most of it.

Hehehe... this is tamer than my Lunar Sea rant.

I am, I put on my bullet-and-pointy-nose-proof vest before I made that post TongueWink, but I have the defence of being the world's only person to give Caress Of Steel five stars.

Fair enough, even though I can't understand it. I'll stick to Larks' Tongues In Aspic.

I would give Caress of Steel 4.5 or 5 stars. I'm not entirely sure. Wink

Larks' Tongues in Aspic, however, is easily my 2nd favorite KC album ever. It warrants 5 stars, no questions asked. Clap

Quote Imagine the burning embers
They glow below and above
Your sins you won't remember
And all you'll find there is love

Heart Amazingified 100%ifold.

Personal taste, I can accept, so long as noone gives Larks' Tongues In Aspic a rating below 3.

Good man!

Understandable either way. I admit it's not perfect, but the flaws don't annoy me, and I feel Rush were pushing their own limits further than they have since, which is more convincing for me than a smoother album.

Yeah, I'll agree with you on that point; Caress of Steel is unarguably their most experimental album. They did push the boundaries of their sound the most with that release. I quite like it alot, but I love all of their albums. Embarrassed

I may be the world's biggest Rush fan, but I'm quite a Crimson fanboy as well. Larks' is absolutely amazing... most of their albums are (I like all of their albums too, to some extent at least, but not near like Rush's). I have odd taste though in that I'd say that I probably like the Belew era/lineup the most. I have the Neal and Jack and Me DVD and it's my favorite DVD. Clap

hm. I have a fairly odd ordering, Larks' is my all-time favouritest album in the world ever, followed by Court, which reaches third favourite, followed by Islands (probably 10th or so), Discipline and Lizard in that order. I have not encountered any Crimson album I wouldn't give a 4 or 5 to, though (got all the studio stuff up to TAPP + The Power To Believe).

Rush, I do like, I'm just quite indifferent to fair chunks of a couple of the big albums, and occasionally the whole music-for-the-sake-of-music thing gets in the way of my beloved atmospheres.

I have every single studio album and I wouldn't give less than a 4 or 5 to all of them either. The ProjeKcts are fantastic as well. Thumbs%20Up

I actually quite like Beat though... not near as much as Discipline (which is my favorite), but I don't quite understand why so many people don't like it. It's 1980s sound but still fantastic.

I love Beat, even if I think Bruford holds back a bit too much on a couple of tracks.

Yeah, so do I. Bruford is one of my favorite drummers. His performance on Beat isn't overwhelming, but I suppose that's part of the reason I like it the way it is.
