Topic: The Soundtrack to Your Life Posted: August 10 2008 at 06:36 |
Shamelessly stolen from another forum: IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?
So, here's how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc.).
2. Put it on shuffle.
3. Press play.
4. For every question, type the song that`s playing.
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button.
6. Don`t lie and try to pretend your cool... just type it in!
Opening Credits: Eric B. & Rakim - Eric B. is President
Waking Up:
Run-DMC - Walk this Way
First Day At School:
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Let the Cool Goddess Rust Away (I have a crush on the teacher, I guess)

Final Battle:
After Dinner - Dancing Twins
Death Scene:
Boris - Hama
Funeral Song:
AG Geige - Fruehstart Erlaubt (inappropriate and obscure!)

browse
porn
go to bed
end credits

Opening Credits:
Fountain Of Youth - Savatage (how apt)

First Day At School:
Whores Of Oblivion - Cathedral (made me laugh when it came up)
Falling In Love:
Between The Gentle Small And Standing Tall - Green Carnation

Life:
Cygnus... Vismund Cygnus - The Mars Volta (say wha...!?!?! ... not my life then)
Mental Breakdown:

Wedding:
To Know Him Is To Love Him - Steeleye Span (hahahahaha)
Birth of Child:
Os Abysmi Vel Daath - Celtic Frost (bizzare)
Final Battle:
Intergalactic Laxative -Star One (okay, I nearly pee'd myself when that came on)
Death Scene:
Sara - Fleetwood Mac (and why not - very surreal)
Funeral Song:
Burn - Neurosis (obviously a cremation)
End Credits:
Careful With That Axe, Eugene - Pink Floyd (don't you just love films with 13 minute end-credits)
...okay.... that's probably the spookiest thing that's ever happened to me - I don't think I could have chosen a better list ...well - the Celtic Frost track for the birth of a child is a tad bizzare, but I can't stop giggling at the thought of dying to Sara by Fleetwood Mac.

OK, so, going for the I-pod, which lacks some of my classical and blues stuff.
Opening Credits: Closer To The Heart - Rush ... Sounds vaguely moralistic in a sort of chick-flick opener way. Could work with the right followers.
Waking Up:
Hymn To Him - Mahavishnu Orchestra That is a loooong waking up.
First Day At School: Sealion (pt. 2) Circus school, maybe...
Falling In Love: The Moon Touches Your Shoulder (live) - Porcupine Tree Good song. Quite romantic, in a haunting way.
Fight Song: Lucky Man (live) - Greg Lake and Gary Moore , despite the lyrics
Breaking Up: A Winter's Tale - Genesis I'm not 100% sure, but I think this song has the lyrics 'baby, you feel so close'
Prom: The Enemy God Dances With The Black Spirits - Carl Palmer . Proof that my I-tunes has a sense of humour.
Life: The Necromancer (Into The Darkness/Under The Shadow/Return Of The Prince) - Rush YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!! . Best Rush song ever. Will have a decent life.
Mental Breakdown: Time Again - Asia Appropriate, methinks
Driving: Donna - 10cc I am lost for words.
Flashback: Waiting Phase One (live) - Porcupine Tree Another PT selection (odd, given I've one PT album), and a great one. Does fit the theme, too.
Getting Back Together: Wind Up - Jethro Tull I'm not even going to begin extrapolating on this relationship.
Wedding: Robbery, Assault And Battery - Genesis See above.
Birth of Child: Seven Stones - Genesis Clearly a fated event.
Final Battle: Vangelo - Jumbo Great song, and aggressive enough to fit.
Death Scene: She Is Beautiful - Genesis Interesting...
Funeral Song: Matte Kudasai - King Crimson Appropriate, and beautiful.
End Credits: Yours Is No Disgrace - Yes Hm. Could have been better. Not my favourite, but it fits.

Opening Credits:
IQ- "The Other Side"
Ooooh, good length (2:24) and kinda eerie. Sweet. Waking Up:
John Zorn- "Batman"
What a wonderful way to wake up! w00t!
First Day At School:
3- "Live Entertainment"
Hmm... Doesn't really fit, except maybe a bit musically. Doesn't matter.
Fantastic band.
Falling In Love:
Rush- "The Big Wheel"
Haha, I suppose I'm falling in love with gambling.
Fight Song:
Meshuggah- "ObZen"
Ha, nice. Fits.
Breaking Up:
Bill Bruford- "5G"
???? Okay then.
Prom:
Koenjihyakkei- "Rattims Friezz"
YES!!!! BEST ONE YET!!!!
Life:
The Residents- "Laughing Song" LOL. Mental Breakdown:
Le Orme- "Breve Immagine" Well.... Alright then.
Driving:
Steve Vai- "Erotic Nightmares" Wow. Not a bad driving track at all. Flashback:
Boston- "It's Easy"
Similar to last track. Decently fitting. Good song.
Getting Back Together:
Henry Cow- "War" Haha, nice.
Wedding:
Gentle Giant- "Dog's Life" Gentle Giant having their reunion at my wedding (with Phil too)! How much more epic can you get? Birth of Child:
Electric Light Orchestra- "Don't Bring Me Down"
I don't know what to think of this one. Will my child's name be Bruce? Final Battle:
Yes- "Sound Chaser"
Ha, interesting and fitting. One of my favorite Yes songs. (Gather thy swords, fellow knights, we're off to battle the sound chaser!! Cha cha cha-cha cha! ) Death Scene:
Porcupine Tree- "The Start of Something Beautiful"
Is death beautiful?
Well, at least the music fits more than the title would imply. I must have died in battle and this is playing during the following scenery.
Funeral Song: Gong- "I Never Glid Before"
Wow. Nice. Everyone's last thoughts of me will be, "Man, this guy was high."
At least they'll get to hear an awesome Hillage solo. This is my chance to vocalize my praise of Hillage, who is one of my favorite guitarists of all time.
End Credits: Caravan- "Cecil Rons"
Hahaha, wow. Interesting choice there. The lyrics.
I've done this before, but this list easily takes the cake as the most awesome by far. Though, the lack of Magma, Ozrics, Crimson, and Zappa saddens me slightly, and I find it odd that there really weren't any epics.
Nonetheless, it is still an extremely epic list. (Yes, I know that was bad.)

Breaking Up: John Zorn - Sheloshim (I guess my love life is intricately connected to John Zorn's klezmer songs)
Prom: Moondog - Tap Dance (wow!)
Life: Modest Mouse - The View (another good one)
Mental Breakdown: Boards of Canada - The Devil is In the Details (this just gets better and better...)

Wedding: DJ Shadow - The Number Song (count the days...)
Birth of Child: Throbbing Gristle - Persuasion (one f**ked up child, coming right up)
Final Battle: Tom Waits - Virginia Avenue (bar fights ftw)
Death Scene: Wadada Leo Smith - Celestial Sky and All the Magic (guess I make it to heaven anyway)
Funeral Song: Daimonji - Perseus (meh)
End Credits: Can - Paperhouse (sweet)
That. was. epic.
Opening Credits: The Residents - Ups and Downs (hahahahaha)
Waking Up: The Roots - The Return to Innocence (don't you know my dreams are DIRTY)
First Day At School: Weidorje - Elohim's Voyage (lol, I must be a nerd to treat school as a voyage)
Falling In Love: Big Black - Ergot (great, though anything from the album Songs About f**king would've worked equally well)
Fight Song: Frank Zappa - Any Way the Wind Blows (like all nerds, I'm also a wimp, I guess)
Breaking Up: Talking Heads - Moon Rocks (decent)
Prom: Led Zeppelin - Four Sticks (meh)
Life: Broken Social Scene - Anthems for a Seventeen Year Old Girl (Epic)
Mental Breakdown: Present - Samana (haha, that's from the album whose title translates to: The Poison that Causes Craziness)
Driving: Outkast - I'm Cool (so good!)
Flashback: Wadada Leo Smith - Kulture of Jazz (meh)
Getting Back Together: The National - Slow Show (decent)
Wedding: Outkast - Xplosion (extravagant thanks to all the nerd money I made working for microsoft)
Birth of Child: Captain Beefheart - The Blimp (it's the child, it's the child!)
Final Battle: Battles - Bad Trails (band name all that matters here)
Death Scene: Mouse on Mars - Preprise (great name for a death song)
Funeral Song: Two Lone Swordsmen - Neuflex (decent)
End Credits: The Roots - Rock You (great way to go out)
Epicness strikes again.

Opening Credits:
Graveyard Shift-John Zorn (how the hell does that fit?)
Waking Up:
Karn Evil 9: 2nd Impression- ELP (YES!)
First Day At School:
The Boys in the Band-Gentle Giant (I am a male and in a band that’s all
male, so sure….)
Falling In Love:
Sapphire Bullets of Pure Love-Mahavishnu Orchestra (talk about a literal
meaning)
Fight Song:
Fur Dih Hel Kobaia-Magma (of course, any Magma song makes for a good fight
song)
Breaking Up:
Almost Like Love-Yes (Oh wow! A Big Generator song for breaking up. It’s like a
double whammy)
Prom:
Look Back-Henry Cow (if that had been played at my prom, I think people would
have run screaming from the room)
Life:
Peaceable Kingdom-Rush (since Rush is my favorite band, that works perfectly.
And so does the meaning)
Mental Breakdown:
Zombies (Ghost Dance)-Magma (AAAAAHHHH! I’M TURNING INTO A ZOMBIE!!!)
Driving:
Ilyena-The Mars Volta (I’d probably crash my car from getting into the song way
too much)
Flashback:
Animae Partus II-Pain of Salvation (Not sure what to think, since I haven’t
listened to this album yet)
Getting Back Together:
Ch’ai?-Ozric Tentacles (Assuming it means me getting back together with a
long-lost lover, I could have her dance with me)
Wedding:
Sex, Sleep, Eat, Drink, Dream-King Crimson (Oddly perfect for a wedding)
Birth of Child:
Two Weeks In Spain-Gentle Giant (I’d probably need that after a few sleepless
nights)
Final Battle:
Angherr Shisspa-Koenjihyakkei (Words cannot describe the awesomeness)
Death Scene:
Overture 1928-Dream Theater (Yet another one that works. How the hell am I
getting so many that work. I never do in these random music shuffle games!)
Funeral Song:
I-Meshuggah (Would easily frighten many of the people in attendance, yet a
fitting way I’d like to be sent off from the world)
End Credits:
Isolation Years-Opeth (I even would WANT it to end on an Opeth song)
So overall, many of these songs work. It also seems I was starting to go on a metal trend by the end of my list. Weird yet fitting.
