Ever try the first University Of Error called Money Doesn't Make It ?

Very rocky and down to earth with the usual Allen Humour. Some songs come up to 8 mins but most are shorter than 5. Avoid the one with where he revisits Jet Propelled Photograph (fist S Machine album).

Jason Pollock is an amazing guitarist playing left handed a right handed guitar that was not restrung. So he is playing reverse and he is phenomenal at it. On stage , Daevid is first dressed as a priest and his guitarist in a child pyjama. Let you guess how it ends.

I saw UE on their first tour (mini tour in Summer 1999 - I think it was their first tour; anyway...) and the Soft Machine songs were done quite well, I thought. I will dig out the set list and see what they did (I have the lyric sheet to 'Why Are We Sleeping' they used, so I know they at least did that...).

I like Daevid's solo stuff in the 90's, Australia Aquaria is really good. Oliver, there is another Sacred Geometry album, as well, that is available for pre-order from GAS. Go to the pre-order section of the Kazbah section of the home page, and there is information about it. The direct link to Sacred Geometry II does not work.

As long as this is in Non-Prog - have you ever heard of the band Stackridge, and do you like them? I just got turned on to them yesterday, and they remind me very much of Daevid.

Also, Voiceprint is releasing a CD of stories read by Daevid and Gilli (Stories Short and Tall), and is (will be?) available from GAS and Voiceprint (and probably elsewhere).

From what I have been able to listen to, Stackridge sounds similar to Magick Brother/Banana Moon era Gong/Daevid meets The Beatles Abbey Road, with some other contemporary feel. For some reason they make me think of Monty Python, as well, though I cannot figure out why. There early recording are very difficult to locate on CD.

I have never heard of Mahadeva, but I will check them out. I also highly recommend the French band Mahjun - they remind me very much of Radiognome trilogy to Gazeuse era Gong. They are very good - primarily woodwind dominant instrumental with what I can only imagine to be Dada Cabaret Voltaire songs thrown in (I don't understand spoken french - I can read it - so I might be totally off the mark here, but the songs have a very fun, cabaret feel to them). Their second and third albums are collected on one CD called Mahjun, and their fourth album, called Happy French Band, is also available. Both can be obtained from Forced Exposure. Their first album was released under the name Mahjin, and is not available on CD.
