Who has time to listen to everything Frank Zappa did?   Certainly not me.   But here are a few of his albums that I really like.  Choose your favorite.

Hard to choose between ONE SIZE FITS ALL and WAZOO. In the end I went for the former, since it gives you better proof of Zappa's versatility as a composer. ROXY AND ELSEWHERE would come third.

Tough poll.  I was about to pick 'One Size Fits All', but I ended up choosing 'Overnite Sensation'.  I wish I could pick both!  How can I choose between 'Inca Roads' and 'Montana' - two of my favourite songs ever?!  I guess 'Montana' just gets it this time. Smile

Also, of course, 'I'm the Slime' gets truer every day, and who can resist singing along to 'Zomby Woof'...?! Big%20smile

hot rats for me.It is not just a great jazz/fusion/blues/rock/jam album, it is also a great teacher as i play along with it soloing and jamming. The thing about it is not only that zappa plays some of his best solos here, not that the line-up is great, not that the songs are fantastic, it's that it comes alive everytime you put it on the cd-player.
And following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been.
We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been.
Spiral out. Keep going.

From the list I must go with Hot Rats, but Wazoo is close and then would come Waka/Jawaka.

But my real fave is Zoot Allures. Other would be Zappa in New York. Also Chunga's Revenge.

1. Hot Rats

2. Sheik Yerbouti

3. Joe's Garage

Few fans usually say good things of Joe's Garage, but personally, I never laughed that much for any other albums. It's quite a philosophical story (somekind of sociological observation as well). How many of us start living life with high expectations, but end up with a mindless job, far from hopes and dreams? I was laughing all through Joe's Garage, but in the end, I was laughing at myself. It made me reconsider my pitiful state. Luckily, I am still young.

One Size Fits All.

Coming up with a top 5 would be quite difficult, but OSFA is my favorite (somewhat easily).
Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

Hot Rats is my all time favorite, followed by One Size Fits All, Joe's Garage, and then many others. Jazz from Hell receives another mention because it's amazing yet overlooked. Clap

I wouldn't say it's his best, but it surely is his most adventurous (of what I've heard so far, that is.)

I know how you feel.  My most recent is Ahead of Their Time and I'm already kicking myself for not including it in the poll (even though I haven't gotten to the second half of it yet.)
