Does anyone here own a PRS guitar? Or maybe just have played one once? Or any reference? I'm thinking seriously on buying a PRS, so I want to hear comments.
I knew about this guitars because of Akerfeldt, so I guess something interesting must have...

PRS hey? Well in all truth I've never played them and you're probably far better off taking a question like this to a dedicated guitar forum, where everyone is a guitar nut (try this forum http://www.seymourduncan.com/forum/ but obviously you need to register to ask questions. Generally from what I've read, they aren't suffering from the hit and miss quality control current day Gibsons are getting. If you're looking to shred, bear in mind they only have a 10 inch fingerboard radius (not exactly shred friendly like a good Ibanez, ESP or Jackson Guitar for instance) and I believe only one model comes with 6100 frets, the rest generally have medium size frets which again is not shred friendly. There are rumors of an Akerfeldt signature, but I wouldn't get my hopes up about it, just a rumor so far.
Some have stunning finishes and the PRS tremolos are known for having very much superior tuning stability than your average 6 screw vintage Fender trem.
And bear in mind outside of the US, they don't come cheap, wheras generally you can still score MIJ guitars for good prices outside of Japan (or the US for that matter).

absolutely one of the finest guitar makers I know, and my personal favorite.. they sound so amazing and you have a good range between rock and jazz/blues tones, the action is like silk, and of course they're beautiful to look at
..this is assuming they're as top-notch as they used to be, and if Paul still has a hand in the production good luck! |

In the opinion of guitar players I know who actually own one, they are well thought of. |

Thanks for the answers, but Hughes, I don't know what you'e talking about.
Well, I searched the Internet in order to know what is that 6100, and now that I know, I have no reference about it. I don't know what is the number for my guitar, but, this is solve playing the guitar. I just saw a PRS in a store, but they were closing... So I'm coming back one of these days to play it.
Besides I will probe the guitar, feel free to add more comments.

6100 is a reference to the fretwire size. Which model did you look at?

I don't know. That's why I'm going back to see it. I just know it was beautiful and it was PRS.

PRS is very expensive when you get into higher quality models. I've played a lot of PRS' in Guitar Center and Sam Ash, they're are easily one of the nicest guitars I've ever played. Steven Wilson only uses the best . (other than Petrucci's Ernie Ball sig that is)
