What if you narrow it down to the vocals?

But yeah now the Faith No More song is over, I tend to not see much SOAD in PTH, but I could be biased given the only times I've heard SOAD is at parties, and I don't actually like them. I quite like PTH though.

EDIT: Okay, I'll get out of biased mode. I quite enjoy PTH as I said, and I find it a far better listening experience than SOAD, which I find quite inane. Both bands are quirky, and maybe there is some PTH in there, but somehow I feel what SOAD "influence" I could be hearing might not be an intentional thing by a band that is IMO of clearly superior musical caliber. Just a thought really.

EDIT: The "got carried away and all that stuff" removed from post.

Lol, I dunno! Stop it!

I guess some of the vocal stylings are similar, but for some reason I don't find PTH vocals annoying, but I can't stand SOAD on any level, including vocals.

alright, let's stop it ... all I ever wanted to say was that their vocalist reminded me of SOAD. I didn't expect a Spanish inquisition!LOL

Folks, please don't quote full song lyrics here - sites have been sued for that. It's a crazy world, but please think of PAs future. Specifically in this case, Hughes, could you edit your post and minimize the lyric to what is sufficient to make your point? Fun disucssion otherwise, even if I'm clueless as to how it relates to the original post....

Great track for a party, so why not. When I worked as a disc jockey in a rock café, I pulled out tracks like that around midnight on certain Saturdays. Only the bartender would complain, because those were the busiest nights for him. Big%20smile

Thanks for fixing the lyrics, Hughes. Wink

Here's to hoping that PTH do not become the new "Phil Collins" of the PA prog metal scene. It seems that the initial intent of this thread used the group as an example, only to see the discussion center mostly around the group. I've seen them in the music mags, and starting to see them in the guitar mags. So they may be achieving some mainstream success. On the other hand, this may just be their 15 minutes of fame, after which they release one or two more albums, get dropped from their label, go indie, then disappear; only to be revived in a later thread at PA and lauded as one of those groups who sought to build on some of the strains of music in the prog metal genre.

As I have had nothing to really rev up my rant machine lately, I'd like to suggest we switch our petulance to groups like Ange & Klaatu. This way, y'all can face a veteran PAer who knows others' weak spots and can out post most. As well as outwrite all.
Or we could just start up a post about extremism in music and asks why extreme forms of music tend to get more extreme as time goes along. The circular logic, and never ending possibilities of discussing avant-gardists and extreme metallers "advances" (snicker snicker) should be endlessly amusing and an easy target for sophomoric nigglers (i.e. most of us)
