Here's a short post by Udi Koomran in his blog about Daevid Allen and his recent shows in Israel with his University of Errors and also one with Acid Mothers Gong with Makoto Kawabata and Tatsuya Yoshida

The new Degenerate Art Ensemble being the one released in 2007, Cuckoo Crow?  If so, yes... it's a good album but don't go in expecting the type of music sampled from their website or myspace.  It's very much a slower-paced album, so the songs that are advertised for it are a bit misleading.
 
If there was any new album from them this year, then no, but I'm very interested if there is.

yeah that's the one. i just now picked it up. it is definitely slower paced than 'the bastress'. their website doesn't give any info on when a new album is coming, but it's kinda cool.

I've only got the Acid Motherhood album with Orlando Allen (Daevid's son) on drums - the thought of Yoshida Tatsuya in a Gong project is intriguing, although I'm sure he turned in his usual superb performance.

That's how I thought it was pronounced (due to my recollection of French when I was learning it aged 15 -- I was told my pronunciation was very good, I even had the accent Wink) but the lack of a Cedilla under the C confused me and I wasn't sure whether the X was silent, like the S is.

I posted this in my I Recommend thread but it makes more sense to post it here. Two bands/artists in the electro-acoustic camp:
 
Two interesting groups I was told about in Sonic Frontiers:
 
Tupolev - Memories of Björn Bolssen

"in memory of bjørn bolssen" is the first album by vienna-based tupolev. they perform instrumental compositions between classical music, electro-acoustic and jazz with glimpses of pop.

the album consists of nine slow and minimalist pieces for piano and bass on the one hand and an expanded composition ("garlic '07") for bass and electronics on the other. but the central pieces of the album are those where drums (and sometimes cello) join in to add up to the actual tupolev sound. sometimes difficult though persistently beautiful, those songs manage to make up a record to keep in your heart.

Well when C is followed by E or I, it automatically makes the S sound, so the Cedilla is redundant.
 
And eux is always the "punch in the stomach" sound

Interesting. Sounds like the guys have listened to their fair share of 'bohren und der club of gore' (one of the first tracks on the ep especially). 'tis good to see other bands intertwining those foundations with their own music. I'm quite intrigued by these electro-acoustic crossed pop experiments at the moment; 'the magic i.d.', 'autistic daughters', 'Dean Roberts' etcetera. BTW the way I noticed their ep is on archives.org for free download. You heard their new stuff?

oh, also, luv sound is a neat little sight. i nabbed some discs of there a while ago, mainly some of the va compilations. i'll have to get downloading and slowly browse my way through them.

I still don't have their first so that is a good occasion to do so and looking forward to the new one as well.

Haha, yeah I'm not good at remembering their album names.  I know that their new album has the term "XXX" in it, haha. 
 
And has anyone here seen Sleepytime Gorilla Museum here recently?  I constantly hear that they've been playing a multitude of new songs, but yet it seems strangely odd that the only videos of the songs posted on youtube are in terrible quality. 
 
If anyone has seen the new songs in action, could you describe them and compare them to their previous albums?  I'm hoping for their next album to have the "earthy" feel of Of Natural History, which I get a strong hint of when I hear the first part of Old Grey Heron (which actually is in good quality on youtube).

You can sense the spirit of Can, Frank Zappa, Sun Ra and King Crimson, but the music of Random Touch lies outside of simple categories or comparisons. Their music appears sourced from the mythic plane where the collective consciousness of the whole and the individual unconscious become one. The result is dreamy, hypnotic, and otherworldly; it is music that seems to float, free of gravity, continuously on the verge of cohesion and collapse.

Random Touch founders Christopher Brown and James Day have an old and synergistic relationship that began with collaborations in high school (an original rock opera) and college (commissioned multi-media piece Broken Glass among others). Brown and Day first collaborated with member Scott Hamill (guitar) in 1978 and member Matthew Ebbin (camera) in 1998. In addition to music, the visual arts have been an integral part of their work over the years. To Random Touch they are all vibration. Whether videotaping the tight, electric frequency of the color violet or recording the long and lazy thrum of a hammered steel girder, it is all raw material, ready for the alchemy of transmutation.
