sorry for being late (still under euphoria ), I know about Вежливый Отказ (Vezhliviy Otkaz), they're very interesting and eclectic band, somewhat jazz-avant-funk-rock. I'll try to provide samples for you

Spacibo/Thanks! I also saw yesterday (probably old news) that MALS is releasing a band from Belarus, which was of special interest to me. It's not often you get any positive news from Belarus!

I can't remember if I ever posted it or not (if so, my apologies for the redundancy) but you can view clips from "Audio Diplomacy" by Fromuz at: http://youtube.com/results?search_query=fromuz+prog+rock&search_type=

Two of the five tracks for "Overlook" have been mixed and I think sound pretty great. The album should be out by August or September.

Mixing is still a work in progress for "Overlook" by Fromuz, and so is the art, but I have posted the cover and 2 inside pieces that will be part of the package: http://kenwestphal.com/Overlook.html

Thanks very much, Rivertree. I'm very happy with the way the art is going.

7 OKEAH (7 OCEANS) Has anyone listened to this band from Belarus? I got a copy from MALS not too long ago to review and just haven't gotten to it yet, but have found it to be very listenable. There is a lot of classic synthesizer sound on the album.

lyrics are annoying as hell. I've tried two times to sit through the whole album, but I failed

indeed they are far too primitive and non-lyrical (more like spoken-word prose text) - IMHO surely, I'd rather prefer fully instrumental record

So, it's the vocal quality, not the lyrical content? At one point, during one of the early songs on the album, my wife walked in and asked, "why are you listening to that? You hate rap."

Now, it's not as bad as rap - IMHO - but you're right, the vocals are not particularly melodic. It took me a couple of tries to get past the vocals. My gag reflex suppressed rather quickly and now I can get past the vocals and enjoy the music.

However, this is not essential listening. I got some other thoroughly unlistenable stuff from MALS this past week for review. I don't want to even bother. However, these are not Russian or FSU bands, so I'll spare you the details.
