haha, for me too, I rather read SC Admins or C or PR reviews mainly. If not I read someones reviews that are totally rubish (not saying mine aren't)

haha, BTW never saw your avatar(means neither your name) in the forum...

(I usually identifie user names with avatars, even though I don't think it's something new that)

ahahha...  Guigo's avatars... I tend not to try to associate them with the sweet kind man I know.  Once I heard the story of one of them in the collab area.  I sort of tried to stay on his good side LOL

I have never relied on someone else's opinion of an album to warp my original thoughts on it (Hence why I find albums like CttE and DSotM to be overrated, resulting in many people taking me for a fool, Tongue)

Now what I will do sometimes is, if I have my eye on a couple different albums to listen to next, I may look at the reviews here and see which one of the two has gotten the more favorable review in the long run. Y'konw, just to help me make up my mind, but never to change an opinion I've already had of the album.

interesting...

so what is more important to people....   to see other people's points of views on the albums.. in essence to see who or how many liked and how didn't like an album...  or do people find more dispassionate but informative reviews more to their tastes.

or to put it this way...  does  what others 'think' of the albums in these reviews drive what you do and do not check out or buy..... or do you read reviews to find albums that sound like the kind of albums 'you' would be interested to hear.

Well, faced with those options, I would have to choose the latter, of course.

I mean, the bottom line is, I choose to listen to an album based on my own tastes, and if I happen to agree with any given reviewer, that is fine, but even if someone else slays an album I know I will like won't sway me from my original attempt of buying it. I enjoy reading and writing reviews however, regardless.

yeah.. I tend to float a bit both ways on that .. having been here for however long I have been here.. talking with the collabs here.. working with them.. I have a good idea of their tastes and their preferences.. and many of them have an idea of mine.  IF someone like Assaf recommends an album to me... even .. god forbid.. a Prog Metal album.. a type of music I don't normally listen to... I damn well check it out because he has seen something in that album that he knows I will like and to be honest... I can't recall one suggestion or review of his that has led me astray.  Other than those people though. .I tend to hunt albums that fit my niche.. the albums that turn me on and don't look or  really care if they are liked or not.

Sorry but how did this dude score a Prog Reviewer title? All I learned from those review is the guy doesn't like The Beatles and a lot of people here do.Confused

Sorry but 2 reports among more than 400 reviews is like impeding Hillary to candidate for presidency for having a blister in a foot. Confused

Well, I can't speak for his other reviews, but shouldn't he be at least asked to rewrite these?

I agree.. maybe an encouraging PM from our crack reviews admins  with a suggestion to take his unique perspective .. being an Italian.. and 'sell' the album. Tell us what us non-Italians are missing.  Not to mention what is 'good' about it.  Granted he did make a point that his english is not good.. just remind him that has not stopped many of us here.  We just do the best we can even if our English is not that good hahha.

The review sounds more like a moment in ones thoughts more than anything else.

I did not understand anything of what romagnolipat wanted to say. With what romagnolipat wrote 2 or three stars are right but ... This review has not said anything. It not speaks of the album but only album's attitude.
Although for some albums, just simply this, it is not whether the review deepens the concept that is expressed in it. In this case the words expenses are expenses for nothing... The review does not help. better express a simple vote.
