I know. Those are absolutely symphonic albums, no doubt about it. But if I were to let people put in whatever they thought were symphonic, there'd be no boundaries at all. I just figured to play it safe and use the PA defined restrictions.
So please people, try to stick to the site as best as possible and I promise this will be fun for everyone Smile

I'm really sorry Tuxon but as I have said before, everyone's perception of what is "Symphonic" is so different that I wanted for it to stick only to bands in the symphonic genres even though you think those albums are symphonic. It evens the playing field.

Perhaps I should have gone with post rock...

Thats the main problem with this. I know I've seen alot of people disagree with the movements from symph to the old art rock cat. back in the day...including myself. I really want to add KC/VDGG/GG (esp) in my list...but I won't and will die slowly inside.

I'll get a list. Aside from the grudges (with are against the site not you), its a good idea. Good to see this up again. Thumbs%20Up

And you should have done RIO. Wink

I just decided to go by PA standards to avoid arguments over what is symphonic and what is not. Having it up to the discretion of the individual is too inconsistent. I was hoping to avoid controversy by just going on what's been established.

I was just asking a question so that I would know if my list would count or not... I don't want to remake my list because I misunderstood the rules... "Sorry"

*still on holiday*

I'm genuinely mystified by some of the things that are under sympho and some of the things that aren't, and your rules are entirely nuts, making Lizard ineligible while allowing votes for 90125 and whatever other such terrible albums. I gave up looking, so here are my favourites that I think are symphonic. maybe they'll count once you see sense and pay attention to individual albums... ;P

0. Three Friends - Gentle Giant
----quality gap between best popular prog album and rest of world----
1. L'Isola di Niente - PFM
2. Nursery Cryme - Genesis
3. Lizard - King Crimson
4. Hrislann og Straumurinn - Eik
5. Relayer - Yes
6. Shingetsu - Shingetsu
7. Les Porches - Maneige
8. Buon Vecchio Charlie - Buon Vecchio Charlie
9. nothing at all by ELP ;P

The bands/artists must be in the 3 symphonic genres on PA. If a band in those genres made an album uncharacteristic of the genre, it is still fair game.

And last time I checked, Gryphon is under prog folk. Wink

Well, there are many bands listed as symphonic prog that has released albums that at least I don't consider to be symphonic. But since the band is listed as symphonic, so is the album. These albums do count?

Absolutely.
