I only have brave, which is a very good album, but not very progressive. I own the interesting half of Rush' discography, but I have blown myslef out on them, and I pretty much havent listened to them for six months.

Alright, so the Genesis and Yes ones were pretty obvious. However this one should definitely be closer. As much as I love Marillion, Rush is one of my all-time favorite bands and Lee is by far my favorite bassist (except perhaps SquireWink). So Rush gets my vote for sure.

Dude, this is bloody hilarious. Every time you say that the poll is going to be close, you end up posting a blowout. LOL (So far anyway... Marillion fans, prove me wrong!)

I don't see that happening. From what I've seen on this site, Marillion seems to be one of those bands that lots of people like, or even love, but they aren't anyones favorite band.

Might want to think again before making such a blanket statement.

Yeah, I definitely know some huge Marillion fans, myself included. They're easily in my top 10 bands (but hard to rank after that), but Rush is just my favorite band ever so I couldn't debate about the question. Oh, and Hogarth-era is just as good as the Fish-era, which unfortunately often receives way too much hate on this site. Ouch

Rush.. For me, it's not really a matter of loving Rush, but more of disliking Marillion.

Rush were at the top of their game in the 70īs, as were Marillion in the 80īs with Fish
Erm,,,sh*tty lyrics?!  I love the lyrics from AFTK, Hemispheres, Permanent waves, I wonder what your peers will think about that brutal statement!

I found out soon after I joined here when I met the acqaintence of a certain admin who happens to have been a HUGE Rush fan hahhahah.  Oh was that nasty LOL

I voted Marillion, used to be a huge Rush fan, but after Power Windows (which was over 20 years ago) they just lost it IMHO

I got into Rush in 1976 and they became one of my very favorite bands over the next 6 years.  I always respect a band's decision to venture into new musical territory but for me I stopped following Rush after  Moving Pictures (read I didn't like Signals).  In the 90s I gave them another try with "Roll the Bones" but it never grabbed me. Marillion have had a long and inconsistant career but Marbles was awesome and I still am into the band, so Marillion gets my vote.

Easy as pie! Rush all the way, to the hemispheres and back, making permanent waves with grace under pressure.

Although Moving Pictures and A Farewell to Kings are awesome, I go with Marillion, but only for the Fish-era. However it seems that Rush gets more votes, Marillion won't go furtherCry

like both bands very much but either of them haven't been on top of their game in years (lets face reality) I think I prefer Rush in their prime ... yeah I`ll vote for Rush even though  Marillion were once a great band also.

Rush are one of my all-time favourite bands, while Marillion don't come even close to being favourites of mine. No contest here.

Marillion by a small but clear margin.
