Israeli band Xamavar are an up and coming band which is adding some nice fragrances to their metal (folk for instance).

I can translate the interview that was done in Hebrew with them here - http://www.metalist.co.il/InterviewPrivate.asp?id=288

In the vein of, say, Orphaned Land?

If so, I'm definately going to take a look.

I'm disappointed - neither of these players are avant-garde!

Al di Meola.

I do hear influences from the Mabool, but it's not that prominent.

It's very good and I hope for them they get signed.

This is a very talented band, with some great songwriting and ideas.  Sometimes the instruments sound slightly odd, almost like MIDI instruments, but the songwriting really is great.  Great find Avestin.
