Ile De Fievre by Shylock.
Those synths and guitar runs are absolutely amazing. One of the best if not the best instrumental progressive rock song of all times. ![]() |

Free Hand by Gentle Giant. Because they were awesome (especially Ray Shulman, my favourite bassist ever).

Right now it's Goliath off of The Mars Volta's new album The Bedlam in Goliath. The reason why...probably because I just picked up the album and am working my way through it. I really enjoy the change in rhythm towards the middle.

I just recently got Frances the Mute, and the bedlam in goliath, so right now I'm gonna have to say that currently I'm a HUGE fan of Cassandra Gemini. And Goliath and Ilyena.
The "25 wives in the lake tonight" part in Cassandra Gemini is so awesome. |

A Silver Mt. Zion - Ring Them Bells (Freedom Has Come and Gone).
Starting about halfway through the seventh minute, that song turns into the most beautiful piece of music describable.

Pantagruel's Nativity by Gentle Giant, because it's so strange and misterious... the part with the bizarre choirs (Pantagruel born the earth was dry and burning exc.) always astonishes me and overall I think it is one of the best numbers on Acquiring the taste.
For Anaon: good choice for Knots... really love it too

I commend all of you Mars Volta fans! i can understand them being tricky to listen to for old proggers (my dad is a big fan of Pink Floyd and Yes, and he can't stand TMV), but prog is moving steadily towards a heavier direction, and i doubt it will be turning back TBH.
My favourite song has changed, as usual. I now am in love with In A Glass House - Gentle Giant. Is it just me, or is the riff in the second part one of the most addictive in the whole of prog? |

Thick as a Brick. And the great about it is that it almost never stops! I discover greatness in new parts every time I listen to it. Masterpiece status well deserved.

The Advent of Panurge - Gentle Giant...Cause it's very pleasant. Amazing song lovely vocals and great opening and great piano, organ change of rythm. Love that cause it's like classic hard rock. Love it. And the piano section is quite mysterious.

Can't stop listening to 'Queen Of Spades' by STYX. The album it's from - Pieces of EIght - was made before their mushy chart singles and was just superb. Vocals and guitar work is just excellent. Other memorable track(s) - Blue Collar Man, Renegade.

Fallen Angel- King Crimson
"Tears of joy at the birth of a brother..."
I fell in love with it since the first line, it is so moving, eerie... the sweet guitar whispers and atmospheric arpeggios, the saxophones, Wetton's sweet vocals... one of my favs from Red.
