Well at the moment The Moor by Opeth is my favorite song to listen too, mainly because it's the best song on Still Life which I've listened to enough the past week to almost make me sick.

Favorite prog song at the moment: Brother Where You Bound off Supertramp's supremely underrated album by the same name.
Favorite non-prog song of the month: Black Blade by Blue Oyster Cult, of another underrated album -- Cultosaurus Erectus! |

Right now I'm listening to the Flower Kings, World Of Adventure, an awful lot. I find it very stirring and captivating.

Just because you mentioned it, I had to listen to the album. I found that song nr 3 Divine Wind was most to my liking at the moment. It is kind of bluesey and as always, with great guitar from Mr Buck Dharma.

clappies to both of you.... here is another great review by Ms. B.O.C. herself ![]() BLUE OYSTER CULT
![]() [Special Collaborator Honorary Collaborator] Posted 1:45:19 PM EST, 1/19/2008 ![]() Anyway, "Cultosaurus Erectus" starts with a bang, with the Michael-Moorcock penned Black Blade, a spacey, dramatic tour-de-force inspired by the saga of Elric of Menilboné and his eponymous sword, Stormbringer, eater of souls. The following track, "Monsters", is probably one of the most progressive things ever written by the band, with its blaring sax interludes, manic riffing and wild, jazzy time signature changes. It's a pity BOC chose to go the easy way, instead of exploring the avenues opened by this brilliant song. The initial triple-whammy closes with the haunting, vaguely sinister "Divine Wind" (incidentally, this is what the Japanese word kamikaze means), which features a superb guitar solo by the one and only Buck Dharma at the end. The rest of the tracks, as already stated, is not completely on a par with these three. Some, like Hungry Boys, are nondescript filler, while "Lips in the Hills" is somewhat reminiscent of some of the material on the band's first three albums. Album closer "Unknown Tongue" is deceptively easy on the ear, though not as clearly radio-oriented as "The Marshall Plan" - a very well-crafted, catchy song with an intriguing storyline, which also references Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water", and would sound great performed in a crowded stadium. Even if not as good as its follow-up, the mighty "Fire of Unknown Origin", "Cultosaurus Erectus" is a fine return to form for one of the greatest bands of the Seventies. Definitely prog-related, and warmly recommended to all lovers of classic rock music. |

Mine... I'm not too sure actually. I recently got ten new prog albums all at once, and I'm trying to get through them all. I got a load of Flower Kings, so right now I'm really into them. It's a tough decision between Stardust We Are for beautiful melody and deep, meaningful lyrics, I am the Sun for the wonderful lush music and the paradox of it being both a humble and a noble song at the same time and The Truth Will Set You Free for the absolutely fantastic melodies it features, as well as the deep, yet entirely simple and true lyrics. But if I had to choose between them, I'd have to say The Truth Will Set You Free would come out on top.

'South Side of the Sky' by Yes. Thats this weeks choice. I've recently re-disovered the Fragile album, having put it on the back burner for 20 years!
I love the rythmic intensity of the verses, and the bold key changes.. "were we ever colder on that day, a million miles away" It's recently knocked 'Plague of Lighthouse Keepers' and 'Trains' by Porcupine Tree off my top spot. My choice would change every couple of weeks.. |

Don't Walk Away in Silence by Satellite. Brilliant song with a mid-Eastern feel and a blistering guitar passge , great singing and wondrous mood. " I Just Can't Get it Out of my Head" like the ELO song....
