I just discovered this short and magnificent clip from a concert of Acid Mothers Guru. who consist of Kawabata Makato (guitar) and Tsuyama Atsushi (bass) of Acid Mothers Temple and Mani Neumeier (drums) of Guru Guru. Great short clip! It also neatly explains why I don't need any Prog Metal Wink.

I haven't heard of this Acid Mothers Temple release. Hopefully it'll have a bit more direction than their other releases (I think that I'm not fond of in their music). I'll check the video out.

I had been meaning to pick up this disc sometime last year, though found myself a little skeptical, probably for the same reasons as Ruben.

Mani Neumeier recently made his first trip to Australia; played a concert with several aust experimental artist down in Melbourne.

I know what you mean, I would love to see these guys playing live, they would be a power house. Unfortunately I think a lot of their discs/studio material doesn't translate so well into a home listening environment.

Believe me that I love "wild jamming", but have you heard any of Acid Mothers Temple's  studio albums? Surely there are a handful of great releases in there, like IAO Chant From The Cosmic Inferno (a tribute to GonG's Master Builder), but aside from those the rest of their albums are nothing really special and more irritating than anything.

They have good releases and not so good ones. Which reminds me of a lot of other artists.

Something like Radu Malfatti's compositional works ;) It would be hard to pin point 'sorts' of music without making generalizations, so it's a pretty pointless exercise. To make a comparison I have no problems listening to Guru Guru (and numerous psych bands) in the home environment, so maybe it just comes down to my indifference towards AMT's work.

Can you define home environment for me ?
I have to say it`s weird watching Mani playing with guys like this. I mean it`s like watching your grandfather  playing acid rock. We have guy similar to Mani here in Montréal although he plays more traditional jazz and occasionally some fusion. He does the soup can, hub cap and pie plate thing as well. I`ve met him a few times and he even autographed some artwork I did of him one year at the Montréal International Jazz Festival. His name is Guy Nadon and he`s a bit older than Mani, 74 this year I believe and he has the same spirit as Mani and will probably be playing until the day he dies as well.
I even considered trying to make it down to NYC to see Acid Mothers Guru last fall but I couldn`t fit it in unfortunately Cry.

What I'm alluding to with the home environment (for me) is at home in front of my sound system, but most importantly without other distractions; able to focus entirely on the music. Under this closer scrutiny their albums provide little interest to me.
