Tales from Topographic Oceans because it wasn't nearly as great as it is made out to be but i did enjoy the last track.
Also Anderson Wakeman Bruford Howe (or whatever the order of the name was). After reading how great a comeback it was I was excited, and then immediately pissed off that I wasted 4 dollars on...it

I think the worst album I've ever heard is Crime of the Century, by Supertramp. I honestly don't see the progressive rock in that band. Its pure pop and classic rock. Sure, they use a lot of keyboards, but that doesn't make them prog.

Now you've heard, the Tale's been told. Its up to you, If it is true.

HAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and having 18 minutes epics does NOT make something prog... or the lack thereof....

Kamelots Ghost Orchestra... who told Kamelot that they should go full out "symp-power-prog-metal" we all know that any subgenre with three or more prefixes can't be good, it just streaches it too far. I love Kamelot and I love cheezy symphonic metal, but I do not like Kamelot doing symphonic metal, its just plain wrong and they arn't that good at it, it all started going down hill after Epica, sad.
sorry bout that rant

I listened to the song "Motions of Desire" by Magic Pie and thought it was a pretty good. Then I bought the album online and took it for a spin. My God, some of the worst prop-pop drivel I ever heard. The single was so promising!

I'm not quite sure... I really don't like much of Rush's or Yes' new stuff very much, and those are my favorite bands. I guess I'd go with Vapor Trails... which barely seemed prog... if at all, but even that wasn't horrible. I guess I've been pretty fortunate regarding this topic.

I concur!!! (except that it's called Ghost Opera, and I LOVED Black Halo) That album was a pretty big disappointment, especially after their (IMO) masterpiece Black Halo. Half of Ghost Opera was barely half way decent and the other half just plain sucked. I sure hope their follow up is much better.

I don't know if you guys agree but...I think Crime of the Century is by far the worst LIE...it does not make it prog ,its just classic rock/pop, I have to agree with The Ace Face here....synths and wierd sounds does not define prog...prog does not have rules ,its a different level of compostional skills mixed up with a great sence of experimental sounds...and Supertramp's "Crime of the Century" is just a nice exemple of weak sound management in terms of synths, if you wanna make a pop album it would be pretty good to have stupid little synths...but it would not fit in prog style...

Tool-Lateralus
So much hype for something so bland.

Oh yes, there have been a few albums I've regretted buying:
Yes - 90125 King Crimson - Discipline Pink Floyd - A Momentary Lapse of Reason Deep Purple - Perfect Strangers Jethro Tull - Under Wraps
Spot the theme there? It's astonishing how long it took me do so.
The actual prize for the all time worst prog (or at least prog-related) album I've ever bought, however, can only go to...
Black Sabbath - Born Again
It took this to make me realize that when bands who'd split up in the seventies got back together in the eighties, the result would inevitably be an album full of total cack.

Deep Purple is not progressive rock. However, they have been deemed by the site owner and the collaborator teams to be proto-prog. Others would have a better explanation, but in a nutshell this means that although not progressive per se, some of their earlier work was highly influenced by or influenced progressive rock.

Well thank you bro .
The thing that got me , was beacause Deep Purple is one of the first bands I knew..so I listen to them quite often...and it seemed kinda "progish" to me, but now i'm more awere.

You're welcome. And welcome to the site. Deep Purple definitely have made some very good music throughout their history. And I agree that some of it is quite proggy. I am sure that as you visit the site you will see various opinions regarding their level of progginess as well as regarding their inclusion here on the Prog Archives.
