Guigo helped me re-activate my account so I thought I'd re-introduce myself as well. ;)
Hi, I'm laplace. I used to be mean and chilly but now I'm nice and warm. My favourite progressive bands are Art Bears, King Crimson and Magma and I think I've heard everything by all three. Of course, there are plenty of other bands - both inside of prog and elsewhere - that I consider indispensable, but my tastes have slipped away from heavy, aggressive music and towards quieter, less rock-based performance and I now prefer instruments like the harp and the xylophone to anything you can pose with. Despite that, I still consider myself a prog-rock aficionado.
Nice to meet you. =)

hahahha.. oh I have lots of practice in that.. they are like roaches.. stomp a few out.... and 10 more come running out.
I'd welcome him.. and probably never see him again... our tastes probably would doom us to being ships passing in the night.

of course not...... but there was a day...in an age long .. long ago... where rampant DT fans ran roughshot over the screaming masses here at PA's.. clogging our beloved site with all kinds of DT related topics.. everything from Myung's favorite toothpaste to Patrucci's favorite hair colour... while this went on... on a hilltop... looking down on PA's .. sat the symphonic tower of prog... looking down upon the chaos of PA's... our heros.. Micky and Raffaella.. saw the pain and the suffering of the masses... after a not so quick quickie... they decided to do something about it... soon... the cries of the poor innocent site visitors were drowned out by a new sound... the sound of kids crying.. kids in DT shirts.. pointing to hill above them... for coming down the path from the Tower of Symphonic Power were two mounted and heavily armed with symphonic CD's. They soon ran roughshod over the acne scarred masses.. and made the meer thought of creating a DT thread or poll a distant memory.. after many months... the Gods of Prog came down from the Prog Penthouse and saw the job we did... and since Raffaella was slightly.. well... a HELL of a lot hotter than I am.. they wooed her with an admin positions.. and left me behind to guard PA's from future DT fanboys that is the short story.... not all DT fans are roaches... I just stand guard against their return

An epic story, micky. I never knew it was so bad, i understand your scorn now. I mean; Petrucci's hair color... *shudders*. Count me in on the symphonic side, we'll force the cockroaches to see the light with our unlimited knowledge of all that is prog. Always outnumbered, never outgunned.

Welcome back, laplace...
Ah, and a good idea: all members should re-introduce themselves each 6 months and later we could compare their tastes, friends, enemies, warnings received, posts hidden, threads closed, reviews deleted, etc.

Thanks to everyone.
Dream Theater don't meld well with my tastes; they're a rock band at heart who operate a cycle of solos, whereas I love ensemble play informed by more gentle influences. But at least I share something with Petrucci. ;P
As for Genesis, I love Harold the Barrel. =)

Would you like to watch TV, or get between the sheets, or contemplate the silent freeway, would you like something to eat?
