Italian keyboard player from the end of '99, composer and singer.

He eclectically merges influences from such genres as 80's new wave, neo-progressive, gothic/post-punk, synth-pop, jazz, space-rock, classical music and power-metal with melancholic eastern flavours and trying to apply the method of "lateral thinking" (by Edward DeBono) to music, by elaborating new ways to conceive oblique, complicated yet highly catchy melodies and sophisticated combinations of harmonies with improvised strange solos, and all this completely by ear (he never studied music theory) and just using an 8-yo analog Casio keyboard with midi interface and a Cubase. The result is a very low budget production and he knows his own vocal limits (though he mostly inspires to the style of David Bowie and David Sylvian) but it emerges an advanced composition capability and a new vision of music.

Well hello, Sleepdriver - and thanks for letting us know about you.

I've listened to some samples of your work on MySpace. It sounds nice, but a bit messy at times, and I don't really like your vocal style. Still, there's something nice to be found in a few tracks. I assume all the instruments are keyboard samples?

Small detail: why such a long list of influences and sounds-likes on MySpace? It doesn't do right to your own work, and it's probably not completely honest toward the viewers either...
EDIT: Just when I clicked send - Formerly Known as The King started. I can confirm that at least your new wave influences are audible. This could've been a demo of The Cure Wink

For Electronic Prog people: please have a listen and provide some feedback here.

Hi Angelo,
first of all thank you for listening and giving me some feedback.
I'm really glad you like "something" in my music, though I know my limits as a musician and as a singer.
it's all keyboards, yes (but all analog and manual compostion, only the quantizing and the audio conversion is digital),and the production could sound a bit "poor",but I have to work in very low budget and that explains all, maybe. I'm not a professional singer,I just got used to singalong Bowie and David Sylvian and the rest is pure improvisation,I have never even studied music theory :-)
For this,I like to say I have a jazz-punk approach to music...
I'm happy for the comparison to the Cure, thanx!
About the list of my musical influences...well,let's put it this way: apart from the fact that I've recorded 20 songs (and composed many more) and all of my "background"can be found somewhere else than the 3 songs I uploaded so far, from a side I wanted to make clear what inspired me so much in my life and in my own music and I particularly wanted to refer to the same "public"of listeners...and from the other side I wanted that many people (who like maybe a couple of the many artists that I like) while doing the myspace artist search, would find my page...:-)
Thanx again for posting in this thread!
cheers
Mario

I just uploaded a new song, "Just Illusion", which musically and lyrically stands in between "The World Is On Fire" and "Nothing to Believe In", it's a kind of jazzy-pop song with some classical (strings, piano) elements and my usual fretless frenzy trademark...hope you like it!

cheers
Mario
