Topic: Prog Epics? Posted: January 02 2008 at 17:48 |
Hi, I'm new here, and I've been searching for a list of prog epics. I have failed miserably, and so has the search function on this site (damn search always gives me an error!). So if any of you know a handy link to a list of prog epics, I would appreciate it greaty!
P.S. There is a list in a Facebook group, but its really incomplete.
P.P.S. prog epics are always good :)

Oh c'mon boys, and prog guy has those epics. Those are the mainstream ones! (as mainstream as prog could possibly get, lol).
I have the vast majority (I think, unless someone proves me wrong) of prog epics. I just want to scrape the bottom of the barrel, but not in a bad way, because prog is good *thumbs up!* |

As promised, here is my second (arguably more obscure) list.
1.Anglagard - hostsejd 2. Sinkadus - Agren 3. Garden Wall - Chemotaxis 4.Citizen Cain - Somewhere but yesterday 5.Metaphor - Starfooted in a garden of cans 6.Triumvirat - Illusion on a double dimple 7.Cairo - Ruins at avalon's gate 8.Present - Promenade au fond d'un canal 9.Apogee - the garden of delights 10. Grayceon - ride 11.Syzygy - The Journey of Myrrdin 12.Maxwell's Demon - Prometheus (for fans of anglagard, oh yeah!) 13.Ezra Winston - Ancient afternoon of an Unknown Town 14.Nexus - Mirar Hacia el centro 15. Consorzio Aqua Potabile (CAP) - Il Regno 16.Trace - King Bird 17.Far Corner - Fiction 18. Wobbler - Hinterland 19.Mandalaband - Om Mani Padme Hum 20.Bo hansson - Born in the gentle south 21.Quaterna Requiem - Quasimodo 22. Schicke Fuhrs & Frohling (SFF) - Pictures 23. Univers Zero - Ronde 24. Fireballet - Night on bald mountain 25.Midas - Beyond the clean Air What follows is the obscure epics from my first list that you wouldn't want to miss 26. Mugen - Sinfonia della luna 27. Deluge Grander - Inaugural Bash 28. Banco del Mutuo Soccorso - Canto nomade per un prigionero politico 29. Kaipa - Skenet Bedrar 30. Carpe Diem - Couleurs 31.Latte e Miele - Papillion 32. Par Lindh Project - The Cathedral There you go! Most of them fall under the symphonic prog idiom, mainly because it's the one I like the most (and have the most cds). Enjoy! PS. You may also want to check some of the concept compilations that musea has released over the years wich include ONLY epics by a large number of symphonic (mostly) artists. Many of those epics are originals which DO NOT appear in the albums of the artists involved. Some of these compilations are: 1.Odyssey (the greatest tale) 2.the 7 Samurai 3.The Colossus of Rhodes 4. The Spaghetti Epic Edited by theBox - January 03 2008 at 05:07 |

Well apparently there is no "MASTER LIST" :D
Maybe I should spend some time creating one? The only problem with this, is that I have very little knowledge of modern prog, or anything heavier than Rush. |

Garden of Dreams - The Flower Kings (60 minutes)
Cassandra Gemini - The Mars Volta (30 minutes) All of the Above - Transatlantic (30 minutes) Jethro Tull - A Passion Play (40 minutes) Antonio Vivaldi - The Four Seasons (40 minutes) Beethoven - Sonata in Fm (25 minutes) some pretty hardcore epic songs for you. Being a proghead you should also like classical music as well it just seems to be the closest thing to prog from the 70s (not counting mahavishnu and santana of course) Edited by kibble_alex - January 06 2008 at 15:39 |
