A freind of mine has just told me that Rick Wakeman hosted a tv show in which he told jokes and introduced stand up acts..is this true?.My freind said the show was called "live at Jongleurs"(hope the spelling is correct) while i am a fan of YES i have not delved into the lives of the band(or any band for that matter, i love Pink Floyd but i do not even know when David Gilmour was born) being content to enjoy the music....Anyway this sounds fascinating and any info would be appreciated!!

Perfectly true, Dude

This is going back a few years, but I seem to remember it was a late night Friday / Saturday programme (ie timed for when you'd just got in from the pub)

Jongleurs is a London comedy club specialising in new talent & the TV programme was hosted by Mr W himself, cracking jokes between the acts & generally looking as much at home there, as he is on massive stages.....

I've never seen Wakeman live. But it seems he also tells jokes (or anecdotes) in his solo tours. In fact, I have the Piano Tour 2000 DVD and he is very amusing between songs. I even laughed hard at one (about heim making a millenium album)

I've read that recent box set features a whole CD dedicated to these anecdotes, although I don't have it.

There was a similar thread somewhere.

I saw Wakeman years ago during a solo baby grand piano tour. Awesome. RW cracked jokes the whole evening, as well as talk about the origins of songs, his history and enough tidbits about Jon Anderson to keep us all laughing.

I have seen Wakeman play in small 500 seat theatres on 3 occasions now. On the 'Out There' tour he didn,t crack so many jokes but on the previous solo shows, he would play some music and then tell a few anecdotes or jokes. He has a very good delivery when relaying a story. If you get a chance to see these one man shows, then I highly recommend it. A great all round showman.
