totally agreed, these particular bands are ok if you hear 1 or 2 albums, the rest will sound boring as you said (I have been through this phase and can't go back...)
This is my curiosity list:
Anything form Procol Harum, Nektar, Ulver and Post Metal/Avant Garde/Experimental Metal bsnda. I'm thinking Ulver. I hope they won't bore me.
do yourself a favour and but Ulver's Themes... it will change the way you listen to music!
check my review on the album and see if you like it, it's not very metal but it's as dark as it gets... I have another 2-3 albums by them, but this one is a hell of a masterpiece

Will do that mate. I heard some samples from their newest output, sad to say that i did not quite liked it. Let's see about "Themes".

Operation Mindcrime is OK. Not so crazy about it myself. I suggest the album Empire, for starters. It has the songs Silent Lucidity, Empire and Jet City Woman. Their breakthrough album, if you're talking about their hits. Or you can always try Pomised Land. It's their best work in my opinion. Compilations are always good if you haven't got the complete or most of the band's discography.

Bear in mind that every Ulver release is different from the other I have 3 complete albums and none is like the other 2 These people are just crazy...

I have their first three, plus Tokyo Tales now. Got all of them at a dirt cheap price  They're excellent, and they'll help me to get into more speed/power-metal (progressive or not).

for me, Somewhere Far Beyond is the starting point of a great trilogy Somewhere Far Beyond Imaginations from the other side Nightfall in Middle-Earth with the last being their ultimate masterpiece A Night at the opera was good too, not as impressive as Nightfall but their last one is quite a disappointment...
