The only reason I know about these bands is because of progarchives.com.  I live in Ontario, Canada and I have never met anyone else who appreciates the music I listen to.  I'm just curious to see who else likes these bands:

Oaksenham - (going to write a review for Conquest of the Pacific shortly...)
7 For 4 - (going to write a review for Contact shortly...)
Ken's Novel
Beardfish
Karcius
Speechless
Senogul
Parallel Mind
Le Silo

and of course I listen to LTE, ACT, PT and Ayreon although I know most people on these forums do too.

I'm just curious to see if anyone else has discovered these amazing but vastly underrated bands.

Of those I've only heard Karcius and I think they're good but I can't say I've totally gotten into them yet.  I need to play them some more before I'll know if they're keepers for me.  If you like Karcius you might like Ohm too.

You should look in the forum threads for threads about these.
I like Oaksenham, Beardfish, Karcius (great band), Speechless (great fusion/rock, you should visit Prog Ears), Senogul (One of the best albums releases this year imo), Le Silo (fantastic two albums).

The ones I know are:

  1. Oaksenham: We recently admitted them to Symphonic, i added them and made the bio, because i'm very impressed with the Eastern Europe bands that conmbine Symphonic with Ethnic influences, extremely good band.
  2. Senogul: They were sent to us but too complex and versatile to be under the parameters of Symphonic, I believe they went to Eclectic.
  3. Ken's Novel: I found this band during the Neo Prog cleaning, an interesting mixture, they have a lot of mainstream and AOR influence, it’s undeniable, a bit of Hard Rock but also a smell to GTR. I see them as pomp Rock in the vein of STYX, I would say that this is one of the few cases for Prog Related if not accepted by Xover. Complete samples in their real website http://users.win.be/kensnovel/fr/disco.htm (Complete songs)….Not more than Crossover, If the team doesn't accept them  rejects them, the alternative is Prog Related.
  4. Speechless: I believe they would be better in Heavy Prog, but the Crossover team knows better.

Thanks for the replies, I didn't realize every band was categorized so specifically.  It's good to know there's other people out there who can appreciate these bands!

I only know two of them, Oaksenham`s Conquest is an awesome album, it is a recent discover, great music there!

And Le Silo, whose 2 albums are brilliant, my favorite so far is 8.8

Hello Dante.dio

First congratulations with your efforts to discover the lesser and unknown new progrock bands, my favorite is Senogul, I discovered this band on The Spanish Progressive Rock Page (the homepage has a section with new and interesting bands) and I have added this amazing and adventurous new Spanish band to Prog Archives, very soon an interview with Senogul by Avestin and me will be published. Other good bands I like in your post are Beardfish (I saw them on Symforce Festival this year, very dynamic and energetic) and Ken's Novel, my Belgian neighbours, worth to check out!

Second, I have been in Ontario, we stayed at the home of friends in Windsor and later visited Toronto, it looks a little bit like the flat landscapes with the many farms in Holland Wink

Can't really recommend any of the others, but Oaksenham is fantastic.

Thanks all, I'm glad to see Oaksenham is appreciated by lots of people although I am surprised that nobody has mentioned 7 For 4, I think they're outstanding!

Anyway, I'm a drummer and pianist and I absolutely love odd time signatures.  All my friends do not understand my music and I'm frustrated that I can't relate to anyone on a musical basis.  Next year I'm heading out on an Exchange to another country for the whole year (I find out my country next month) but I ranked Norway, Sweden and Finland all really high so I hope I end up in Scandinavia, since lots of good prog seems to originate there.

As my sig says, I really believe being a musician enhances your appreciation for prog.  When I listen to music, I want to listen to music that I can't just sit down and play on drums or piano, which includes most mainstream music.

Yeah southwestern Ontario is pretty flat but as you move north it gets very rocky (Canadian Shield) with plenty of lakes.

Well, I haven't heard any of the bands mentioned yet, but I'm from Ontario! That's what counts, right? lol

What area are you from, by the way?

I own some albums of 4 bands out of 9. Also I'll buy Beardfish's album soon.

But I have never seen Ken's Novel.

The most favorite album is Le Silo / 3.27830. Oaksenham / Woden's Eve Live is next to it.

I'm from Stratford, it's between London and Kitchener, about 2 hours southwest of Toronto. You?

It's good to see that these bands aren't 100% obscure! Does anyone out there listen to Parallel Mind, 7 For 4 or Speechless?

Wow it's good to come onto these forums and discuss progressive rock with people who appreciate it in the same way I do!

Yeesh, I guess I've been living under a rock, because I haven't heard of a single one of the bands on your list.
