At the jesu concert their were about ten teen girls standing next to me who were dancing and singing along with the lyrics (not somthing you expect at a shoegaz/metal/post/industrial concert. I can forgive them though cuz the music is so good.
the concert was half indie kids and half metal heads, and they stood on opposite sides of the room. I couldn't understand it at all. Personally I was sitting on the edge of the stage stoned as a mutherf*cker

Check out The Ocean and their new album Precambrian.I am on my first listen and am enjoying this 2 disc concept album IMMENSELY.
A brief descriptive:
The double-disc effort is the soundtrack to the beginning of evolution, subdivided into two successive geological eons ("Hadean/Archean" and "Proterozoic"). The songs are divided into five subordinate eras, with the songtitles carrying the names of subordinate geological periods. Disc 1 features the typical THE OCEAN brutality while Disc 2 shows the deeper, more emotional side of what the collective also stands for.The double-disc effort is the soundtrack to the beginning of evolution, subdivided into two successive geological eons ("Hadean/Archean" and "Proterozoic"). ^^^ The Ocean is on my "to get" list. I've seen the name "super group" when people talk about them. Will check them out.
I'm glad you took notice. ![]() Another recent addition to the Post-Rock genre: YOU.MAY.DIE.IN.THE.DESERT Fans of the aggressive side of Post-Rock might enjoy those 2 new bands. Check out the samples at their myspace pages if interested. |

Not really a fan of CoL. The vocals aren't very motivational. The music's good, though.

Okay, Tool is not really part of the genre post rock, but the song lateralus is probably my favirote song made in the last thirty years. The chorus just flows through the weird tme sig so easily and it's just... uhhhgggg.
AMAZING!

I have yet to see a post-rock/metal concert and I am dying to see someone. Then again I don't really go to concerts....I have only seen Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater and Symphony X a few times each. So hard to make time and money to see these shows. I wonder who it would be though....
Pelican probably. |

^^^^ I think he meant that he won't like Sigur Ros' ( ). I can see why. Agaetis Byrjun is a slow album and less dynamic than Takk and ( ) is an even slower and less dynamic album than Agaetis Byrjun (although not bad).
Andy, you should get Caspian - The Four Trees. I have a feeling that you'll love the album. |

Wow....I listened to some Old Man Gloom today for the first time(their latest album "Christmas").They are a project of Aaron Turner of Isis.I guess they can almost be considered a "supergroup" with Turner(vocals & guitar) and members of Converge,Zozobra,Cave In and Agoraphobic Nosebleed in the line-up.
Awesome stuff !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
