I do love CARAVAN..........albums 1 to 4..the ones with cool Richard Sinclair.....that's when he left and when the one with sissy voice took over all the vocals , it was over...for me!
One i think has not been mentionned yet and is getting a lot of injust hatred here all the time is ROGER WATERS , one of the leading main prog names. The bashing never stops sadly.
Another band getting over criticised well over the top here on PA is ELP; seems they are like a punching bag . I mean no one is perfect but it seems some other bands are getting free pass for whatever they produced , good or bad.
But ELP and Waters, they are in line for the firing squad everytime their names are mentionned.  Edited by febus - November 01 2007 at 06:23 |

I used to dislike Porcupine Tree too, and it even annoyed the hell out of me when I saw everyone raving about them, but then I saw "Fear Of a Blank Planet " in a CD store. Having read some stunning reviews of this, I decided to buy it, and I must admit that I really like this particular album and quickly reviewed my opinion!
The fact of the matter is that it is impossible to find a universal band that everyone is going to like, there will always be someone somewhere with some criticism. I think it is furthur complicated by the fact that all bands have stronger and weaker albums so nothing is ever perfect.

Though "not liking" and "disliking" are both different things, and require definition. I don't really fancy most bands, but I will listen to them if they're playing. That means I don't dislike them. I only dislike like 2-3 bands here on PA

Ah Robert; yes if there is someone nothing bad can be said about , that's him! Agree!
I never heard any criticism about him either. ( the only critic would be from his communist rethoric, but when i buy a Wyatt album , it's for the mood and the voice, not the lyrics. ...so it's ok and makes him the best! ( at least one of them) Edited by febus - November 01 2007 at 06:59 |

The advantage of this post is mainly to see that even Top Ten artists on this site are disliked by some people. I don't like Yes, at the point that I can't listen to an entire track, even the short ones... I like some of KC but certainly not all their songs...
So what?

Well, I can't stand Yes. hahahah. I get a lot of flack for it, but I've never liked them. And although I love King Crimson, I've met plenty people who can't stand them either.
I don't think there is such a thing as a band EVERYONE loves.

A few years ago i stopped reading press articles and reviews of VDGG since all they ever seemed to say was that Johnny Rotten liked them. This fact told us something about Rotten but nothing about VDGG and yet it has been repeated ad nauseam.
I suppose i have repeated it here too, but i had to get this off my chest.
