i think that if we could just add a second genre to some bands would be easier and less complicated
for example, porcupine tree arent eclectic prog, but they arent just psychedelic-space prog, theyve definitely got prog metal elements aswell [especially in their more recent albums]
so,not for every band, but with a few, a second genre should be added

Every new guy here thinks they're going to impress the rest of PA members by saying "DT sucks" or "Phil Collins killed Genesis"....... That's OLD NEWS people..... You're NOT original.... actually, you're as common as they come...

Hmmmm .... that last line reminds me of the Gabrielites effusion of non-praise for post Gabriel Genesis. Overdone, & hopefully over with |

Yes, but then we'd have a useless thread based on a topic of which there is already a large number, all created by folks like this who think their DT hate is somehow original and witty. |

ahem ... I've been very busy, but stay tuned for some updates during the weekend. In the meantime have a look at the chart: http://ratingfreak.com/home/progarchives/progmetalchart/subgenres.xhtmlI added a neat little icon to every band which have a link to a page which contains samples. ^ yes, I've been busy lately and there haven't been any updates. I think the new categories are stable enough to be implemented, and we need to sort out the new bands.
I'll give you an update tomorrow! |

On the other hand, they did do several thrashed up Romantic era pieces, including a full rendition of Pictures at an Exhibiton, which I guess partly qualifies them for symphonic...

So far as I know, they never strayed away from thrash, which I gather is enough to place them in the extreme list? The problem being they were never very extreme thrash...

^ any other comments on Mekong Delta? Perhaps from someone who knows all their albums, as I gather that they did progress somewhat.

I'm currently listening to a Mekong Delta album, and there's no doubt
in my mind that they should be under thrash rather than power (or
symphonic or wherever they are).
