Why did they stop making games for the Xbox? I refuse to pay £200 for a new console which will be out of date again in a few years. I can't get Madden, Fifa or NHL 2008 games .

Darn those silly 'system lifespans' and 'profit plans'. I'm still trying to find a company that is continuing to develop for my poor Apple ][ |

Incredible game....I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got it when it first came out,and have played through it twice.I just loved the look of it and the intuitive gameplay, especially using all the brush strokes.

I'm not trying to pick a fight here, but I'd like to know...
I am genuinely curious as to what makes people buy consoles nowadays. The only thing I can think of is that the lifespan of a console is longer than that of a PC - but all in all, to me upgrading a PC still seems about as expensive, if not cheaper, than buying a console. And don't almost all console games make their way to the PC sooner or later nowadays? I suppose there are some controller issues with games ported over to the PC, but can't one just buy some sort of PC-adapted gamepad thingy? As for my fav games, they are, and will probably always be the Homeworld 2, Dawn of War and the first three Total War titles (Shogun, Medieval and Rome) with their countless expansions and mods. It's a pity my PC can't handle Supreme Commander - I'm not really crazy about the basic game, but there's a Warhammer 40,000 mod in the making for it, and since I'm a Dawn of War fan... |

For a hardcore gamer like myself, I have all consoles and a great gaming PC, and I can tell you this: For me and many people, console games and exclusives are more than enough reason to own consoles.
Consoles, for one, seem to have more adventure/platform, survival horror, and overall artsy, unique titles (Would you ever find ICO on PC?? Doubtful)
Also, despite games "eventually" coming to PC, some prefer the officiality, controller, and to own a game on first release. Also, alot of games are being made FOR consoles, and they are ported to PC, which can degrade things greatly.
For me there is nothing like owning a solid game collection for my consoles. I have a strong connection to console gaming, sentimental and nostalgic. Consoles always feel better for me, I prefer sitting on my couch with a controller and going deep into a movie like game, like say Heavenly Sword, which I could never have experienced without a PS3.
They are all great, but my PC is usually for RTS and FPS, and above all Adventure...all three of which my consoles also can do, and have their own benefits as well! Edited by The Lost Chord - October 02 2007 at 17:29 |

Three cheers for RPGS!
DEATH TO SPORTS GAMES! You can just go outside and play football. You can't exactly just go outside and save the world from certain destruction. |

I'm so pissed.....I bought God of War a while ago and started playing it.
I got to a point where I can not physically advance.
I try to climb a ladder and go nowhere...

Pffff...maybe YOU don't save the world from certain destruction, but by preaching the word of Kreühn Köhrmahn and the prophecies of Nebëhr Gudahtt I save humanity from certain doom regularly. |
