Today my computer is acting very strange. I downloaded Firefox about a week ago and I have been visiting this site without a problem. However, today, I could not login. I submitted my name and password several times and got the welcome back screen thing and I was still not logged in. Then I went back on Internet Explorer and it's working fine as always. Is this a one time fluke or is there something wrong? Any one have a similar issue? Any advice?

I recently switched to Firefox from Safari (Internet Explorer before that) and though it has some very good features it also has some weird ones... though I don't have to log in to PA each time,  if I want to switch back to Safari, I do.  Firefox also seems to have some glitches that Safari doesn't.  Both have disadvantages but I guess Firefox is more common and updated...  yeah, I don't know

Yes.

In Firefox go to Tools>Options

Select the Privacy tab then "Show Cookies"
Browse down the list until you come to "progarchives.com" click on the name and then click "remove cookie"

Log out of PA then Log back in and everything should be fine.
Worked for me.

I like it because it's a bit faster, but if it keeps glitching like this, I'm dumping it.

I use Firefox and have never had that problem. I'd also pick Firefox over Internet Explorer any day. It's faster and more practical to use.

For the last time, Foxtrot is the best album ever!!!

Woops, misread the thread's title.

Still, the vote goes for the one that starts with F.

You're welcome.

Have you installed adblock plus? If not get it from the Firefox add-ons page and then block every advert on PA.

That was the first thing I did after I installed it. Every iPod free (pun certainly intended) visit to PA is so refreshing.

Nothing's perfect, though. What bugs me about Firefox is that it is the most resource consuming program I use; for examples it consumes a double amount of memory than IE. I just checked. When they're both started on blank page, Firefox is shown as consuming 28824K of memory, and IE with only 15828K. After loading www.progarchives.com, Firefox is shown with a 45735k consume, and IE with only 26396k. And that really "hurts", especially when having a crappy old computer like mine, with only 256M DDRAM...

Thanks for the tip, the overabundance of annoying ads has been really getting to me lately, the invasive watch this ad while you page "loads" type, the ones with noise in particular.  Really sucks if you're trying to listen to music while you're here.  Hope you don't get into to trouble for sharing that.

Do you manually block stuff or subscribe?  I'm finding a few of the ad's not blockable as they aren't recognized as ads but rather flashplayer entities.

In my opinion, if you manually block everything you're missing most of the functionality of Adblock Plus. If it weren't for subscriptions there'd be no real advantage over using the Opera content blocker.

Does a subscription automatically block the flash ads?
