Topic: Prog 911??? Posted: September 04 2007 at 18:48 |
Just listening Roger Waters live album: In The Flesh. With headphones of course, since prog is a private thing. Well. Morrison said music is your only friend until the end. I have no intention to check out any time soon. But i feel very lonely. So, dear proggers, any ideas how to kick of the blues? I had almost 5 weeks before i made any update to my record collection. And when i finally did i purchased about 10 hours of new music. And now i feel stressed to listen all of it. Prog makes you mad? Or if you were mad prog just triggers it? Man i am lost! Grrr...

Well, here goes my advice:
1) Stop listening to Roger Waters: his music is really, really sad. It's not bad at all. But it's sad.
2) Listen to Focus: Moving Waves, Focus 8 & Focus 9. That should make you a little happier.

Bro, they play amazing 16:25 version of Dogs... That alone gets me hooked... But yes the sad part gets me alienated too. Lawl so hard.

For me, the better the music, the more vibrant emotions it provokes. Of course, the triggered emotions are drawn from whatever I'm listening to, whether that is happiness, melancholy, spaciness, etc. Regardless, these feelings ultimately bring about a state enlightenment and happiness, which is very welcome in my simplistic and routine life.

Prog is the best substitute for a real life... So you can either
- buy some new albums and keep on, or
- meet some people, try to do some interesting things, etc
Myself I'll take on the first option for now...

I'm trying to grasp whether it's the music that made you sad or whether your sad and the music is worsening that. What did you mean?

Actually, when I feel a bit melancholic I always try to listen to music for the same mood instead of looking for some music to pull me out of it.
