I love Hackett's Voyage Of The Acolyte its one of the most beautiful albums I own from any artist so it ticks me off seeing it way down on the list,  when I compare it to some others on the list that I`m only lukewarm about I kinda get a little bit annoyed.

That's my take on things I wonder what you people think  ?

Ditto.  Voyage is beyond comparison.

Both are ridiculously inspired masterpieces wich get easily 6 stars (yeah, out of five). My vote however goes to Hybris due to the fact that it came out of nowhere (well...quite...) in a time that prog wasn't exactly popular and has managed to be regarded as a masterpiece of symphoprog, something that isn't easy or common for a 90's album or band.

The other way around for me.

I'm a Genesis fan and  a Hackett solo career hardcore fan, but in this case I don't know which one to choose, both are outstanding.

Hybris is great music, but not my cup of tea... too much loud guitars and keys.
I prefer Voyage's gentleness

Both have superb mellotron work, I first thought that was the point of the poll

I found Voyage of the Acolyte boring and terribly overrated. Hybris, on the other hand, is flawless. Guess which one I voted for.

Really, what does it matter? I simply don't care about albums' positions relative to one another here. No computer-generated chart will ever affect how much I enjoy an album.

Also, you can't force people to see things the same way you do. Not everyone here has Hackett's masterful first solo outing, or holds it in as high regard as I do. So what? I can live with that. They don't write my reviews, or choose which albums I listen to. Stern%20Smile

(I've never heard Hybris, BTW -- but it seems lots of folks have. It's likely Anglagard are better known in Europe than here in North America.)

Finally, "better" is a purely subjective concept with regards to art -- art is not sport. What's the objective criteria we're to use to decide this? Confused

Love them both, but VotA is a minor masterpiece and Hybris is a major masterpiece, so I went with the latter.

Better as in which is more "enjoyable"  its just a personal opinion.  Btw  I think "Hybris" is a fantastic prog CD moments of that give me goose bumps  ..  this is a tight poll ... not much in it  Smile

Both albums are just great...I recently listened to hybris for the first time and i must admit that jordrok is a ma-ster-piece..But,i'll go for voyage, mostly because of my preference to Genesis and 70s prog rock scene..
Welcome back my friends...

Both are great (duh...) but my preferance is for Hackett if not just for the originality and mastery of songwriting that is Ace of Wands.

Unfortunately I haven't heard Hybris (out of my reach since a long time), but hard to beat Steve solo debut...
