It sends shivers down my spine every single time I hear it.

It is classic Lifeson.  The lead sounds similar to a Rush song but I can't put my finger on which.  Of all offerings he's provided to other bands/artists, this one, in my book really captured the feel of the song. Is there any Wilson discussion on the meeting and events in the studio surrounding this?

If Wilson were to produce the next album, I would be very interested. But in reality, I love so much Snakes and Arrows, I almost hope they keep Nick Raskulinecz.  Having someone produce your music who loves your music and history certainly proved to be a plus for the album.

Side note: I wouldn't mind if Rush put out another album and didn't tour. I need more new Rush!!!!!!  The anxiety really impacted me w/ S&A. No other Rush release had done that. Not sure why though.

Not that I know of, but both Neil and Alex are PT fans.

"Shut Up Shuttin' Up" which comes from a famous Bugs Bunny line, is my favorite of that album. Always puts a smile on my face.

I haven't heard Lifer. Is it Alex's son's band?
[/QUOTE]

No, his son isn't in the band.  According to the All Music Guide website they won an MTV contest after doing a cover of a Limp Bizkit song, and then had Alex do the production of their album.  The description from the All Music Guide website is as follows: "Traveling within the darkest lines of alternative metal inspirations, presenting soul-rupturing themes composed of raging guitar strains and fierce and brutal rhythms controlled by mind-gazing lyrics, Lifer discharges a newborn breed of ponderous heavy metal sounds."

While I'm at it, do you think Lifeson's participation on PT's latest could ignite a spark strong enough for Steven Wilson to produce the next Rush album ?  That would kill !!!

By the way, has anybody listened to the Lifer self-titled album that Alex was the producer on.  It has an alternative metal sound with no similarities to Rush, but I can hear some similarities to the sound on Victor.  Any thoughts?

A surprise indeed!  Does this call for a PM? Wink

I thought Tony would also be playing a bigger part.
Indeed, and he is not one to shy away from letting others know of his fanboyism... add that to the fact that there have no insults or name calling whatsoever in this thread so far (not only is Rush THE band, it seems that the fans are THE fans as well, here are a few clappies for you all ClapClapClapClapClap)... we seem to be boycotted from the admins and collabs... Cry

Total agreement, Eric, which is par for the course.

I don't think the admins can play favorites with bands...or can they? Hmmmm...Shocked Wink
They have done in the past (especially Tony and Raff with Rush) so why stop now ?  Everybody is entitled to their favorites !

Yeah, some of my all time favorites are included there, like Losing It and Tai Shan. I've never heard anyone say they love Tai Shan, but for me it's one of their top ten songs.

The Enemy Within

Witch Hunt

Making Memories
Rivendell
I Think I'm Going Bald
Lessons
Tears
Madrigal
Broon's Bane
Circumstances
Entre Nous
Different Strings
Vital Signs
Losing It
After Image
Middletown Dreams
Emotion Detector
Tai Shan
Anagram (for Mongo)

These were the obscure songs from Rush debut through Presto.  Still a pretty good listen.

Nice list. I may have to make the same CD! Wink
Now if I had to choose obscure songs from Presto and up, the list would be something like this :

Scars
Red Tide
Available Light
Heresy (one of the best songs on Roll The Bones, and it would have fitted very nicely on Hold Your Fire in my opinion, it reminds me of Prime Mover)
Ghost of a Chance
Cut to the Chase
Double Agent
Time and Motion
Ceiling Unlimited
Vapor Trails

^ Skip Gildersleeve was listed on Different Stages Live as office production for T4E Tour.  Only album I have currently with me.
