I have never even considered reading hat Tago Mago review, i just find it hilarious how the reviewer constantly changes his 5 star ratings, as if it were the most important thing in the world to make sure that only the right Can albums have that rating :)

This thread has inspired me to write a tediously long essay on 2112 over the weekend and post it as a review. Look for it on Monday!

I just remembered that I can't write a 10000 word review (or any other review, for that matter), because I don't have any opinions.

Exactly.
Wasn't there a list of albums that haven't been reviewed yet? Someone could write the longest ever review for one of them. This made me think of the Simpsons episode where Homer was a food critic. "Screw Flanders!" Edited by Vompatti - August 10 2007 at 16:51 |

Don't spoil it for me.
Also: all reviews I'm writing from now on must reach a bare minimum of 300 words, and much preferably 400 at the least. Also, I intend to write at least one ridiculously long review...perhaps not 7000 words, but up there. |

Status update on my ridiculously long Rush review:
This is taking longer than I anticipated. I am only up to 3000 words so far, so it won't be ready by Monday after all. But never fear! It WILL get done. |

Yeah, hilarious episode
The fun thing was that the letter "E" didn't work on the typewriter, but he still managed to write "ScrEw FlandErs"

I honestly have never managed to read that Tago Mago review in full. Obviously, a lot of thought has gone into it and I respect that, but it's a bit too daunting, IMHO (it just seems to get longer and longer every time I look at it!). I personally don't think it's a terribly good idea to write thousands of words for reviews and I speak as someone with experience in these matters!!
Most of my earlier reviews tended to average just under the 1000-word mark and I found I was getting laborously over-descriptive and formulaic. I feel SO much more comfortable with the way I write now I(no more track-by-track reviews or describing every note that the listener can hear anyway!) where most of my reviews are around 500-600 words and sometimes below that.

There's no need to go far over 600 words, and not much need to go into detail about each specific song, methinks. A 400-500 word review is usually the best.

Scared to tell you that I already have a 4000 words review for a Tangerine Dream simple EP.
And counting, of course... |

InPraiseOfFolly has told me that he is going to shorten his famous/infamous Tago Mago review to 3 or 4 thousand words, thus relinquishing its position as longest review.

Is there anything about the review being good?
I'll write a 10,000 word one. It'll probably suck and be on an album thats not remotely worth it, but it WILL be the longest...

This thread inspired me to write shorter reviews, like I'm doing lately (in some albums)
