The wall is quite horrible compared to Pink floyds best stuff....you have to have half of a brain to note this

JT thick as a brick is way better, but they are also 2 different types of prog music..

TaaB by far, it's much more ambitious imho. While the wall has some great songs on it, it also has a lot of fillers which temp me to use the skip-button. It just feels too much like Roger Waters pouring his heart out two discs long than a full-fledged Floydrecord.

You just insulted 32 % of the people here, and dismissed their honest opinions as false fact.

Disclaimer ///  Folks I was never going to put "thick as a brick up against  "wish you were here"   want to know why ?   because I bet its been done before .. Wink   this poll isn`t about who wins its pretty obvious who should win according to statistics , what this poll is about is a chance for all those Floyd fans who grew up listening to this CD to voice their opinions and be happy that they have made some sort of contest here from not even Floyd's best album against what is arguably the best prog CD of all time Tull's "Thick as a Brick"  (I believe thick as a brick is a  95/100  CD btw  so I`m not biased
I kind of wish more polls were polarized  it really gives a clearer understanding of things and puts things into perspective and also creates a topic. Couldn't think of anything more boring than a "thick as a brick" vs "close to the edge" or "wish you were here" poll  and frankly I couldn't stomach the blue url links saying we have done this poll before click here and see Smile

thank God you said "arguably the best prog CD of all time Tull's "Thick as a Brick""...

and this is probably the point of those polls... you've already said it.. a chance for us "Wall freaks" to state our love for that monument..

oh, and IMHO, arguably The Wall is the best prog album ever..

and i don't see what the harm is about same threads appear again from time to time since from the last time new members have registered or opinions changed...

The Wall is just too much Roger. Thick is much more enjoyable even though the melody was used in a VW commercial.

Is there really a contest?

Thick As A Brick has some of the best short instrumental sections ever, very few weak moments, costs half as much, has more entertaining lyrics, a better end, is more memorable and is more versatile.

The Wall, however, really doesn't strike me as great. The start is promising, and stunning, but from there it really manages to bore me with the overlong opening to Thin Ice and Mother. The vocals are pretty weak, and the music fairly dull. However, it does pick up for the rest of disc one, and has real flashes of genius on Another Brick In The Wall pts 1 + 3. The second disc is mostly a disaster, sounds and reads like 50% filler, ends poorly and is redeemed only by Hey You and a brilliant memorable use of a repeated theme.

Basically, The Wall sounds very forced on disc 2 and would have been better if Waters had been less dedicated to the huge show and double-albumage.

Thick As A Brick...one of the easiest polls I had to make a choice in. Though I'm suprised, this should be a slaughter.

Call me Thick as a Brick!

(I like "The Wall" as well, see my icon, but Brick just blows it out of the water IMO)

Well I'm kind of surprised with the results. I thought The Wall would be wiped out of the discussion, but it doesn't seem to. 64 votes against 37... This is still a competition.

Pink Floyd used to be my favorite band, but NOW ? not anymore strangely... And The Wall is far way from my favorites now... I dunno what happened. Maybe I'm more interested with complex and very progressive stuff now. Actually, my favorite bands are Yes, VDGG and Gentle Giant...

And Thick As A Brick is one of the best albums in the world too...

I'm a (classic) Floyd fan, but don't really like The Wall. Other than the odd moment here and there, i consider it a huge letdown, depressing and self-indulgent. It's the sound of self-destruction, and the point where I pretty much lost interest in what followed for the band. I'd give it 2 stars.Thumbs%20Down

TAAB I'd give the full five stars -- in fact I did. I love it -- a masterpiece of classic prog!Cool

67 it is, then.  Stern%20Smile
