wish I could offer advice but the best I can come up with is wait and I'm sure that dont help much.

As I wise man, I can say for sure that waiting will lead to nothing. Become violently honest. Talk to her and say exactly what you have in mind: "Look, that guy is horrible with you and I'm awsome, but I can't waste time right now dreaming about you and stuff. Let's try friendship in a few years again. Bye". And, off course, clear your mind and leave ahwt will become an incredibly frustrating false frienship behind or it'll eat you and other wonderful relationships will pass before your very eyes and yuo'll never notice that, etc.

It isn't a false friendship. I don't ever want to not be her friend. I've told her what was on my mind, and I'm sure it was a damn sight moe eloquent than that guy could ever hope to say. What killed me is how public it was. All of my friends (and a good number of passers-by all got to gossip about it for months) Thank God I'm going to college

gossip is stupid and childish but if you were "eloquent" in public than its probably your fault. In private its always better.
