Band Name: OPUS
Line Up: James Dowd, James Davies, James Harrison
Location: Farnborough, Southern England
Genres: Prog-Metal + Post Rock + Math Rock
Official site: http://www.opusband.com/
OPUS first came to my attention when they opened for the band I use to manage and I was immediately impressed by the expansive aural sound-scapes they produced, playing only instrumentals that were simultaneously riff-filled metal and loosely jazzy without becoming tedious or repetitive.
They are 3-piece (Guitar, Bass, Drums) influenced by such luminaries as Tool, Mogwai and King Crimson. To date they have produced two self financed demo ep’s, the later of which, Sample Aura, is available from their website and they have free downloads on their MySpace page. |
