Topic: Genesis or Rush Posted: July 16 2007 at 14:19 |
Rush for me as they have been consistent over the years, some of the Collins era Genesis has been poppy nonsense!

I find it almost if not impossibel to take side. But I like the harder rockdriven and style of Rush. But also the little softer but very dynamic sound of Genesis. So I chose not to vote.

Honestly I'm not a fan of these two bands... but Genesis made Selling England By The Pound and this says all.

Three months ago, I would've said Rush, without any hesitation. Back then, I probably even would have went as far as calling them the best band in the world.
Now, however, Genesis are one of my absolute favorite bands, and with the awesomeness of pretty much all of their 70's records, they beat Rush by far.

find Rush infintely more interesting.... thus fun to pick at.... listening to that Rush cover album right now as a matter of fact.. much better than that horror of album of DT covers (ACoS) I listened to yesterday. Rush sure did nail The Seeker.

Oh boy. I couldn't survive without either!
I've been a fan of Rush for two years more, so Rush it is.

Yes, yes, Genesis WITH Gabriel. But that was over 30 years ago. I thought this poll was about "RUSH vs. GENESIS", not "RUSH vs. "GENESIS with GABRIEL"..?! Many people seem to vote for Genesis just because they did albums like Selling England By The Pound many years ago, and many of those people don't like the Phil Collins-era at all. Nowadays I'm a big fan of the old Genesis with Peter Gabriel, but I think that most of the albums with Phil Collins on lead vocals are very bad and not prog at all, whereas Rush has done great albums after the 70s.

Yes they do! Actually, they have ~4 of them. A Farewell To Kings, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves and of course Moving Pictures.

Because Rush are loyal to their "religion" (yes, band like Rush are religions) i vote with them. But I admit the fact, that Rush doesen't have an "Selling England By The Pound"

Rush definitely. Genesis WERE a GREAT progressive rock band, but the band died when Gabriel left. Or at least when Steve Hackett left. I can't stand the pop-Genesis with Collins on lead vocals. I love Nursery Cryme, Trespass, Foxtrot and SEbtP, but how could I vote for the band that has done nothing great since the 70s? Rush may not be prog anymore, but I like Snakes & arrows very much. And they are still a great liveband.
