The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (I have it for Xbox 360 too, but I can mod on the PC)
Battlefield 1942
All PC stuff. My 360 is being under-used.

Right click. Right click your mouse and throw it as far as the menu as possible. Incredibly boring.

Thanks to the Moonbooks project, I "played" Kafka's 'Metamorphosis' on my DS at work the other day, and by "played" I mean "read".

I hate RE, except 4.
The story is cool enough, but the tank controls are incredibly frustrating. Replaying ![]() and ![]() Edited by king of Siam - June 18 2007 at 19:38 |

I really like the New Super Mario Brothers on the DS,it's pretty "old school".It has some pretty interesting new power-ups,my favorite is the giant power-up.
I still consider Goldeneye one of the best FPS's EVER.

Right now I'm playing Pilotwings 64, MK Trilogy (N64) and Mario Kart DS. I also check Everybody Votes Channel on my Wii often. In other words, I try to play with my Wii daily.
Also, Goldeneye IS the best console FPS. Nothing beats the Facility for multiplayer madness. Nothing. Edited by evilromero - June 27 2007 at 14:24 |

I remember playing that when I was about 5, but I don't remember anything about it. I'll see if I can eBay it for a few bucks.

Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl.
Well, was the wait worth it. Yes, although it's a somewhat idiosyncratic game from a small Ukrainian developer it's a fantastic game.
Stalker was originally scheduled for release in 2003/4 development difficulties by a small Ukrainian company has delayed it until '07 and a total of six years in development. Mine and many others expectations were very high. After installation it took awhile to get the settings right and even with my fairly high spec PC I couldn't have the dynamic lighting turned on. Even so, it looks pretty good at high resolution(1440x960) and only static lighting. Visually, think a cross between HL2, Tarkovsky's film Stalker and a seriously radioactive Oblivionscape but less cartoonish. Set after a second accident 2012 Stalker is a game with large open areas like Oblivion. There are a few barriers but on the whole the game has a very open feel to it. However, there are a number of areas you travel between like levels. Unlike Oblivion you can't fast travel anywhere which according to some gets tiresome but hasn't bothered me yet. How does it play? After about an hour of playing I though it was a bit lame. The quest dialogue text translations from Ukrainian are terrible in some cases leaving the player to guess at the meaning. At first this annoyed me and then I began to enjoy the overall eccentricities and felt it added to the atmosphere. When NPCs are around they talk a fair bit in Ukrainian and I haven't a clue what they are going on about (though the Stalker forum folk have translated the dialogue and it consists of jokes). NPC have even less personality than in Oblivion but it doesn't seem to matter much. One of may favorite touches is you sometimes come across fellow Stalkers, who are usually neutral, sitting around a campfire playing the guitar. It sounds kinda dumb but it's pretty cool actualy. As with most games you start off with almost nothing and with this game it's quite struggle to get better armour and weapons in the early part. Also both armour and weapons deteriorate fairly quickly and you can't repair them. You also have to contend with various mutant creatures, anomalies and radiation. Other enemies include bandits, the military and various factions. The combat isn't as polished as some games but the AI is very good at times and enemies will regroup and try to flank you. However as you get better weapons the combat improves considerably. There was one time when I was in this scrapyard filled with cars and buses and I was surrounded with enemies closing in on all sides. I thought I was a goner but I manged to take them out one by one and the sense of satisfaction was high. Although the game has RPG aspects, you don't level up but you have a lot of choice with armour and weapons. You can only carry a certain amount so you have to choose what to keep in your inventory wisely. You also have to eat, but you never have to sleep which is strange. The atmosphere is fantastic and genuinely creepy. The landscape and sound effects are immersive. Sometimes just the wind blowing can give the player chills and in general the weather/sky effects are excellent. Sunny days are few and far between but are very welcome in the foreboding landscape. The first few hours of gameplay are a bit dull but once you get past the initial stages the game really opens up. This is the most ambitious FPS I've played and for the most part it works very well. It isn't polished like many US games tend to be (HL2 and Oblivion) and will discourage some gamers unfortunately. Edited by requiredfield - June 27 2007 at 21:46 |

Ha, weird, I just picked up the Resident Evil remake for the Cube yesterday. I loved 4 but I never played the original so... yeah. I hope to get the rest at one point or another.
I also started playing through Eternal Darkness a couple weeks ago and stopped for some reason. I hate it when I don't do something for just one day, I don't bother to continue. It's weird. And... I didn't bother to play RE today. Uh oh... Edited by KeleCableII - June 28 2007 at 03:52 |
