Review by Mandrakeroot (Andrea Salvador)

3%20stars My review is produced using this release: Telstar TCD2817

My Rating:5/10 PA Rating:3/5

Well... 100% Prog Rock... Is Prog "More Than A Feeling" (Boston), "Paranoid" (Black Sabbath) or the dance version of "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" (Jon Andreson)? And 100% Prog ELO and Asia (that for me is two good AOR Prog bands), Blue Oyster Cult (with the my favourite song "(Don't Fear) The Reaper") and the Edgar Winter Group (of which I listened to only "Frankenstein" and that is 100% Prog)? In any case the songs in this compilation are Prog, at least in part. To quite to see there it is also a true surprised. In fact in this compilation is included "No Change By Me" by Atomic Rooster (that is NWOBHM AOR!!!) previous included only in the 12" single "End Of The Day".

Is good... Because is a budget compilation and for the songs and groups included in general. But for the rest... Nah!!!

Oh, I gotta vote for Boston, because it's so damn inappropriate to do so.

Roundabout is great, but I couldn't resist the temptation to vote for Paranoid in a 100% Prog Rock poll. LOL

Waiting for someone to come along and move this poll.  I did a poll about 1967 releases and included a couple of non-prog selections and it got shuffled off into a more obscure area.

By the way really liked Edgar Winter's Frankenstein as a kid, haven't heard it since then.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Procol Harum's "Homburg" for me.

However, I like Boston's "More than a feeling" even more, but it's not prog.
I'm running still,
I shall until,
one day I hope that I'll arrive

And not only Black Sabbath, but almost certainly the least prog song they ever did with Ozzy. At least put Into The Void , Solitude, Planet Caravan or the band's title track on there, if you absolutely have to have Sabbath.

More like 60% prog rock, to me. Ermm

A fave from all of those? Roundabout, despite my having heard it way too many times, it's a great, classic prog track. Thumbs%20Up

Lucky Man is sooo prog indeed.

I'm the one who voted for "don't fear the reaper". An excellent composition with an incredible central part between great pop.
