It's a bit ironical that the most acclaimed new Russian band is Apple Pie and they sound like an USA progrock band. Nonetheless, I am very happy with the development of the new Russian prog, a big hand for Apple Pie, Little Tragedies (my favorite), Karfagen, Lost World and Infront and I hope to listen to The Gourishankar very soon Thumbs%20Up Thanks for the good work, fellow progheads Clap

Apple Pie is the most acclaimed new Russian band? I didn't know that. I own Little Tragedies, Lost World, 33 (who I don't really think of as prog, though I see them reviewed on prog sites), Agarta, Azezello, Horizont, Alexander Kostarev Group  X-Religion, Jeremy & Progressor, Er. J. Orchestra, Vladimir Badirov & of course Fromuz(counting other FSU respublics.)

Thanks to this thread, I'm learning of other bands I should be on the lookout for!

I like the fact that you liked AUTOGARPH
Many progheads (even from Russia) deny that they're are Prog or even Related, but AUTOGRAPH was one of the first "legal" rock-bands in USSR, they were wonderful musicians (and still are - just check the abovementioned DVD to make sure of it) and many Russian Proggers of today owe them a lot (NYL and APPLE PIE bear some noticable influences). I even heard there was an idea to make a tribute to AUTOGRAPH...

and they did as long as I know - along with Kruiz and Gorky Park in early 90s. Yep, this one is rather disappointing, especially after their superb debut EP...

I just discovered that "Audio Diplomacy" by Fromuz, is now part of the playlist at pandora.com! At Pandora, you can program your own internet radio listening.

So far, I've only heard one track in its entirety, "Beginning". I would agree with the SB comparison and from these first bites, I find it a very tasty pie indeed! I'm looking forward to devouring the entire thing when my copy arrives.

Wish I had the time I did when I was younger to get into all this great stuff coming out of the Russian Federation these days. I don`t deal over the web so I have to get lucky with special orders from retailers.

If you need any advices where to start, just PM me

I'm sure that Greg "The Wizard" Walker has some CDs from recent Russian bands. If you'll start with THE GOURISHANKAR (avalaible via Unicorn Records), I dount you'll regret!
