I just discovered that "Audio Diplomacy" by Fromuz, is now part of the playlist at pandora.com! At Pandora, you can program your own internet radio listening.

and they did as long as I know - along with Kruiz and Gorky Park in early 90s. Yep, this one is rather disappointing, especially after their superb debut EP...

Many progheads (even from Russia) deny that they're are Prog or even Related, but AUTOGRAPH was one of the first "legal" rock-bands in USSR, they were wonderful musicians (and still are - just check the abovementioned DVD to make sure of it) and many Russian Proggers of today owe them a lot (NYL and APPLE PIE bear some noticable influences). I even heard there was an idea to make a tribute to AUTOGRAPH...

I have also reviewed
Tear Down the Border

this is a very special thing as if they wanted to enter the american rock charts Shocked

Apple Pie is the most acclaimed new Russian band? I didn't know that. I own Little Tragedies, Lost World, 33 (who I don't really think of as prog, though I see them reviewed on prog sites), Agarta, Azezello, Horizont, Alexander Kostarev Group  X-Religion, Jeremy & Progressor, Er. J. Orchestra, Vladimir Badirov & of course Fromuz(counting other FSU respublics.)

Thanks to this thread, I'm learning of other bands I should be on the lookout for!

Yes, it's somewhat SPOCKS BEARD like ...

Well - it's a matter of taste of course.

Apple Pies Crossroad is nothing exciting for me.
Check it out and maybe you'll have another opinion like other reviewers here.

I just found a video posted online of Fromuz at Baja Prog. The sound is pretty horrible, but all the same, it gives a little taste: http://www.vimeo.com/clip:193870/context/tag:music

album Crossroad is well performed - sounds very american - vocals aso.
I'm missing a special russian note ...

BTW - what is Eto shutko standing for - it's not russian?

"Eto shutka" means "It's a joke" in Russian

and Apple Pie has nothing Russian and nothing unique in their music, sadly...

The guy who recommended them to me said:

My friend Dan and his friend Denny both bought copies of their debut album
"Crossroad" from Greg Walker's booth at ROSfest last month, apparently
there's a buzz going about it. Denny played some for us in his rental car,
and it was very impressive, so I then went to all the vendors there to find
one for myself, but all had sold out, or hadn't gotten it yet.  It's VERY
Spock's Beard like, though not entirely, and very melodic.
