The "speediest" guitar solo must surely be the most boring one ever! Wacko

Buckethead is awesome but he's about much, much more than speed. He's just capable of it.

Realy this could go on forever of who is the fastest, we just do not know. There is probobly some rubber fingerd 12 year old classical guitarists from China that could school everybody mentioned so far. It is more than probable, I am going to go out on a limb and say there is. The fastest solo is more within our grasp.

I stopped reading all the 7 pages, when i see "Malmsteen" many times. Are you kidding me? Malmsteen is the fastest?LOL I think we are experiencing different space and time with you.

Speed is of course important, but if your only (or initial) motivation is just to play faster than anybody; you are not a real musician i think. Go and be a 100meter sprinter. LOL

I like Michael Romeo most, among guitarists who can play really fast...

Yngwie is pretty fast as people have been saying but definitely not the fastest.

I won't venture a guess as to who is the fastest, considering the thousands of guitarists out there still waiting to be discovered.

I will say that my favorite guitarists who play with considerable speed are Alexi Laiho from Children of Bodom and John Butler from the John Butler Trio ( I just discovered this guy the other day and he is amazing. Highly recommended. Check out his song  "Ocean").

And finally, the best song to showcase your speed is the almighty FLIGHT OF THE BUMBLEBEE!!!

But I dreamt we were all

I think Yngwie is fast, but not clean, probably also because of his guitar sound/tone... Well Steve Vai is fast, but im not sure he is the fastest, basically, G3 stuff is usually kinda fast.. Michael Angelo Batio is also fast...

John Petrucci is also fast, and he can play very clean while playing fast, thats what i like most..

The ability to play quicly allows you to execute a eider varity of musical ideas.

Fastest guitarists are Shawn Lane for sweep picking and either Rusty Cooley or Francesco Fareri for sweep picking.

The end of the solo in DT's Voices.  That blew me away the first time I heard it.

The fastest shredder is hands down Chris Impellitteri.  Check out his video HERE
But it's not very musical.  The best shredder (as far as being just a great guitar player) is John Petrucci.  Any Dream Theater song or his solo stuff is proof of that.

Trevor Rabin is underrated in that. That guy can play incredibly fast staccato solos, in the same leauge as Vai, S. Morse, but with more emotion imho. I like some Petrucci's fast solos as well (Universal mind, Under the glass moon..) but some of them seems to me empty and dull. Also Eric Johnson can play with ultra speed and emotion in the same time.

Malmsteen plays very fast, but no that good, Petrucci plays faster and with better composition
I still can't get how Dream Theater music is created by humans
